On this day 44 years ago in 1980 Peter Gabriel releases his third album named LITERALLY "Peter Gabriel." Here in the US, the album was titled Peter Gabriel III. The album is also often referred to as Melt. So annoying. Anyhow, the album features classics "Games Without Frontiers" and "Biko."

Honored to debut this yesterday at 9:15am EXACTLY. Not a second before nor a second later. We are easily the most prompt and polite morning show in the history of radio. == This is the second single taken from new album, ‘Wild God’, due August 30th. It's called 'Frogs' and opens with the very first words Cave wrote for the album, invoking the first murder in the Bible, Cain’s slaying of Abel. “Ushering in the week he knelt down and crushed his brother’s head in with a bone / It’s my great privilege to walk you home.” www.nickcave.com

Today is the one year anniversary of my dad's passing, and my mom and I are still learning how to live with the grief. It is more overwhelming and unpredictable than I expected - sometimes it is sharp, sometimes it is soft. Grief has me feeling his intense presence and absence at the same time. I ended up giving the eulogy at his memorial, and I found myself focusing on the importance of showing up and being present, probably the most important thing he taught me. That's where you find the beauty, the joy, the poetry, and how you connect to other people. That is what is helping us get through. Hard to pick one song to remember such a big music-lover, but I was hoping you could play Moonlight Mile by the Rolling Stones for my mom and me in honor of Tom/Dad/Poppa. Chanda in NYC

Dehd will be playing the Neptune Theatre in Seattle on Nov. 6! Album review from KEXP's Chris Sanley: The fifth studio album from Chicago trio Dehd finds the outfit leveling up their fusion of indie-pop, post-punk and garage rock. Poetry boasts impeccable hooks, bright melodies and Emily Kempf and Jason Balla sharing lead vocalist duties with sing along choruses. Nearly ten years into their career, this confident trifecta just keeps getting tighter with their potent, multifaceted indie-pop/rock with no signs of slowing.

According to Wikipedia (so you know it's true) "The title song "Maple Leaves" centers on a hallmark of Lekman's lyrics, puns and an advanced level of understanding of English idioms. It is a melancholic love song or reflection on lost love about the singer misunderstanding a woman's ennui or disillusionment primarily indicated by her saying "make believe" and the singer optimistically hearing it as "maple leaves". Toooooootally.

When Joan was around twelve years old she had a vision. She saw Michael the Archangel. He told her that she was to lead the French in a battle against the English. After she drove the English out she was to take the king to be crowned at Rheims. Joan continued to have visions and hear voices over the next several years. She said they were beautiful and wonderful visions from God. When Joan turned sixteen she decided it was time to listen to her visions and take action. And action was taken. www.ducksters.com
