Björk initially wrote "Human Behaviour's" vocal melody in 1988 when she was still the lead singer of the Sugarcubes, but they couldn't come up with the music to fit it. Producer Nellee Hooper found the solution in a tinkered sample from "Go Down Dying."

'Pets' deals with the dissatisfaction with the human race whom the band believes is on the edge of extinction, and how aliens could theoretically take over the world and fatefully, "we'd make great pets". The duo who directed the music video for "Pets" (Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris) would later go on to direct the 2006 film 'Little Miss Sunshine' starring Steve Carrell, Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, and Abigail Breslin

It brought me back to standing next to Bill Janovitz in the bathroom at the Middle East in Boston and to seeing Buffalo Tom play at Neumos. Hey John, It’s my 38th birthday and it will be the first birthday I’ll celebrate clean and sober since I was a kid. Today also marks my nine month sober-aversary. Those are just a couple facts to give me an excuse to thank you and KEXP. This community is a vital ingredient in the antidote to my addiction. They say the opposite of addiction is not sobriety—it’s connection, and that’s what I see you and all the masterful DJs at KEXP consistently creating: a space where people feel seen, heard, and cared for. The compassionate heart I get exposed to when I listen to this station every day helps give me the courage to take the next step. Faraway, So Close! is a 1993 German film directed by Wim Wenders, stars Nastassja Kinski and Willem Dafoe. Cassiel only becomes human in the reunified Berlin, but quickly becomes involved in a criminal enterprise that threatens his newfound life and his friends.
