Hi, love the gentleness of this morning's music. My middle-schooler, my girl, is going through very difficult mental health struggles. She's incredible, but man this is tough, and it's been a long time. Grateful she's not at her worst right now, and hoping the sunny weather and music can see all us through to gentler days. Watching her wilt has been just heartbreaking. I'm wondering if you could play Jeff Buckley's All Flowers in Time Bend Toward the Sun for me. I mean her. :-) ❤️

Land of the Loops was the alias of Brooklyn-based sonic collagist Alan Sutherland, a veteran of several short-lived bands who turned to quirky electronica after his parents bought him a sampler for college graduation. This song happens to be in the very-first-ever episode of the television show, The Sopranos! - landoftheloops.bandcamp.com
The song Porcelain was based on an emotional breakup. Moby recalled: "I was involved with this really, really wonderful woman, and I loved her very much. But I knew deep in my heart of hearts that we had no business being romantically involved. So, it’s sort of about being in love with someone but knowing you shouldn’t be with them." - www.songfacts.com

Hey John!
Two months ago today I broke my leg at the hip joint; tonight I’ll see Slowdive IN A CAVE IN TENNESSEE, 333 ft underground. This show was great motivation to recover – proof that music really does heal!
Can you play any Slowdive before they destroy my hearing? Thanks!

Last night my husband and I saw Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service in St Louis. We moved to St Louis (where we grew up) almost 1 year ago after 21 and 14 years respectively in Seattle so that our daughter could be closer to her grandparents. It continues to be one of the most bittersweet decisions we have had to make. It was a surprisingly emotional start to the show with Death Cab, as it reminded us of home (Seattle), and when they played Transatlanticism a wave of homesickness hit us both. I looked over, and saw, like me, my husband also had tears getting ready to spill over, so we just held hands and enjoyed the power of music which took us back home from the Midwest to the Pacific NW.
If you have time, please play Transatlanticism for all those who are feeling like we need to be so much closer to home this morning.
Thanks,
Britt (of Nick, Britt, Coco & Pip)
The Stone Roses's "I Wanna Be Adored" is one of the ultimate indie shoegaze anthems. With lead vocalist Ian Brown, he clarifies his message, "I didn't actually want people to adore me. I was trying to say then, if you want to be adored, it's like a sin, like lust or gluttony, or something like that." Read the 2009 interview here: www.clashmusic.com

Hi, good morning KEXP fam! I'm hoping you could work in a little Pearl Jam Dark Matter this morning? Yesterday, we lost one of our fellow Pearl Jammers. Her name is Michele. She was very private about her cancer journey. As many hundreds of our Pearl Jam family were in Vancouver BC for the start of the new tour we hugged and embraced not knowing that Michele was passing. We are all deeply saddened as she was such a ray of sunshine in many lives. Michele always had the kindest words of encouragement and was one of those angels walking around on this earth, with all of her positive energy.
She would've LOVED hearing this new album, live. Many of us are heading to Portland tomorrow and Friday and will embrace each other with hugs and dancing for Michele.

On January 30, 2015, surviving Mad Season members Mike McCready and Barrett Martin performed selections from the band’s repertoire at the Seattle Symphony’s Sonic Evolution concert, with conductor Ludovic Morlot and guest artists including Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell (filling in for the late Layne Staley), Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan.

You just played Slowdive for Hollie. We're friends but funnily (is that a word) we've never met in person. Can you play some Frightened Rabbit for us?! That's how we met several years ago. 🐇⚡️💙

The title track to the third Waterboys album, "This Is The Sea" is about leaving the past behind.
"Once you were tethered
Now you are free
That was the river
This is the sea"
Lead singer Mike Scott wrote the song; he composed about 20 different verse lyrics, choosing the best five for the final product.

Rest In Peace Steve Albini. The icon of indie rock as both a producer and performer, has died of a heart attack at age 61. As well as fronting underground rock lynchpins including Shellac and Big Black, Albini was a legend of the recording studio, though he preferred the term “engineer” to “producer.” He recorded Nirvana’s In Utero, Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me, and countless more classic albums, and remained an outspoken critic of exploitative music industry practices until his final years.
