Good morning! The sun is rising!
"Little Fluffy Clouds" makes extensive use of clips from an interview with American singer Rickie Lee Jones in which she recalls picturesque images of her childhood. The samples are widely believed to have come from a conversation between Jones and LeVar Burton on the children's television program Reading Rainbow, but in fact originated from an interview disc that was issued with some promotional boxed copies of her album Flying Cowboys. The interview was not conducted by Burton. The interviewer is not identified on the recording or in the boxed set's liner notes, though a 1993 profile in The Independent identifies him as "an American DJ" with a "syrupy, Simon Bates-style tone."
Originated as an a cappella track on Suzanne Vega's 1987 release "Solitude Standing." It became a hit in 1990 when British production duo DNA added a beat and released the remix as a bootleg. Their remix version was included in the 1991 album of Vega remixes "Tom's Album."
The "Tom's Diner" of the song is Tom's Restaurant in New York City, a mid-20th-century diner on the northeast corner of Broadway and West 112th Street. Vega was reputedly a frequent patron during the early 1980s when she was a student at nearby Barnard College. The diner later became famous as the location used for the exterior scenes of Monk's Café in Seinfeld!
This song is said by its writer and singer, Caron Wheeler, to have been written about a near death experience in which she nearly passed on but was sent "back to life.
This British R&B song also features the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra.
This song features a sample of The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now." Soho was an English musical trio, consisting of identical sisters Jacqueline and Pauline Cuff, with producer Tim London. Other members of the group over the years have been Eds Chesters (now of The Bluetones), Leigh Gorman (ex Bow Wow Wow) and Barry Smith (of Add N To X).
Johnny Marr wrote this song for The Smiths in June 1984 and recorded it with Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce. The band recalls the session as being accompanied by heavy cannabis use, and the band even replaced the studio's light bulbs with red ones for ambiance.

Recalling the writing process for Catching the Butterfly, lead guitarist Nick McCabe said: "“It was one of those tunes that wrote itself, really. In the early days it was quite an open-ended, skeletal, almost kraut-rock kind of thing. Eventually we added tunes to it and it stacked up like a lasagna into this thing that is like a ’60s thing now but it wasn’t like that at all initially. It was quite an abstract piece and it was one of those things that happened really quickly – it took two sessions to get it into the shape that it was. But then learning how to play it live was less easy than that."

The band credits the inspiration for the song's mandolin sound to a visit they had at a museum of tractor parts.

In interviews at the time it was said that the song took its inspiration from the 1949 film The Third Man, which is based around the Austrian capital, but Midge Ure later admitted he made that up when asked what the song was about. According to singer Midge Ure's autobiography, the title came about by a mishearing of the Fleetwood Mac song "Rhiannon."

Ibibio Sound Machine's fifth studio album, "Pull the Rope," will be out on May 3rd.
Of this track, Ibibio Sound Machine share, "The track is about the hope of finding a peaceful way to overcome our differences in the world. The idea of standing at two ends of a rope symbolizes this. We recruited our friends Richmond Kessie and Helen McDonald as well as Eno’s mum to lend a bigger sound to the chorus vocals. Musically it’s a mix of post-punk and electronic sounds." ibibiosoundmachine.com

New music from Justice! "Incognito," is a new single from their upcoming fourth album, Hyperdrama.
""Like many songs on this record, it switches from all electronic to all human music abruptly, multiple times within its four-minute run," Justice said of the new single. "The structure is dictated by what feels good at the moment it happens, without necessarily following any other rule. We had to unlearn everything we thought we knew about song structures, and music in general, when we started working on Hyperdrama, which was very refreshing."

Good morning John and Owen! Today is my birthday and I was hoping you could play Connected by Stereo MC's. I've been having a rough time lately and that song always gets me going. My best friend bought me the tape when it came out and we always blasted it while riding around the bay area in my car. Thanks!

Nick Hallam explained the tune's meaning in a 1993 interview: "The song 'Connected' is about human beings and the lack of connection there is between anything today. It's about the way everyone tries to categorize everything. The way every race is trying to separate from each other."
This track samples a bass drum beat and snare beat from Jimmy "Bo" Horne's 1978 tune "Let Me (Let Me Be Your Lover)." Rob Birch looped the sample and created the bass groove that holds "Connected" together.
We were just alerted to the news that Pedro the Lion have just released a new single and also announced a new album and tour.

"Halcyon Digest" is the fifth studio album by Deerhunter, and was the last album to feature bass guitarist Josh Fauver, who passed away in 2018. Frontman Bradford Cox stated on his social media:"The album's title is a reference to a collection of fond memories and even invented ones, like my friendship with Ricky Wilson or the fact that I live in an abandoned victorian autoharp factory. The way that we write and rewrite and edit our memories to be a digest version of what we want to remember, and how that's kind of sad."

Notorious was produced by the band with Nile Rodgers.
Nile Rodgers said of composing the title track, "The idea for 'Notorious' is basically James Brown soul-power. That's when I started to groove and started playing along with it. And Nick Rhodes said, 'Wow! A D-minor 6th. That's such a great chord. We got to write that into a song."

This song was to be used in the 1989 film Say Anything..., but it was cut from the soundtrack because the producers believed the song revealed too much of the story.
Madonna was originally meant to sing the harmony vocals, but missed the recording session. Maria Vidal was instead enlisted to do the vocals.
"Need you Around" launched Smoking Popes to a huge audience after it was featured in the soundtrack to the 1995 film Clueless.

"I find a window in the kitchen
And I let myself in
I rummage through the refrigerator
Find myself a beer"
Vocalist and guitarist Todd Lewis offered an explanation behind the guy in the song rummaging through the fridge for beer: "There's a moment sometimes when you're writing where you're like, 'I don't have any idea what this line is going to be. I've got these lines before it and these after it and I have no line to go in this one spot. I'm thirsty, so he's going to get a beer now, that's what he's going to do.'"
