Happy bday to Mr. Jerry Harrison, guitarist Talking Heads AND Modern Lovers.
Producer Steve Albini used some unusual recording techniques on "Surfer Rosa" to avoid "the studio sound." He moved recording equipment into the studio bathroom in the hope of achieving a real rather than studio echo on Kim Deal's backing vocals for this and her lead vocals on "Gigantic." Albini later admitted that the record could have been completed in a week were if not for the time wasted experimenting on projects like this.
Final track of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Lyrics were inspired by contemporary newspaper articles and McCartney's memories of his younger years.

Guitarist Jez Williams said this song was influenced lyrically by the fact that "A lot of cities in the North West (of England) have gone through radical changes - Manchester over the last eight years, Liverpool in the last couple." He went on to say that "some of the most important, historical buildings have had their hearts ripped out, replaced by temporary pacemakers." bit.ly dovesofficial.com

Bonny Light Horseman have released a new single called “When I Was Younger." It was recorded at Levis Corner House, a pub in County Cork, Ireland, and they say "...you can hear coughing, cars, and the whole audience did that wordless wail with us in the middle. It felt like a primal collective shake-off. Next morning we were collecting our things from the pub and the owner Joe was out front ... sweeping up the cigs from the street singing, ‘When I was younger, I used to dress fancy…’”

Hope you are well. I was wondering if you could please play me a song? Today marks my 10th year of being sober from alcohol 😃
It's not been an easy process, but one that I'm very grateful for 🙏
The song I'd like is Recovery by Frank Turner. It was a track that I first heard whilst in the treatment centre, I'm not even sure how it got onto my playlist, but it was such an important song and I would like to dedicate it to anyone else out there who is living la vida sober!
One day at a time..
Thank you so much and have a good day 😊

In interviews at the time it was said that the song took its inspiration from the 1949 film The Third Man, which is based around the Austrian capital, but Midge Ure later admitted he made that up when asked what the song was about. According to singer Midge Ure's autobiography, the title came about by a mishearing of the Fleetwood Mac song "Rhiannon."
Both this album and Ultravox's Vienna were released on July 11th. The first in 1975, and the second in 1980. Whoa.

Singer Hannah Joy says, 'There was a lot of confusion and information and rules and anger and people judging people and loss and distrust. I eventually felt so overwhelmed by all the noise, I couldn’t take it anymore. The guitars are kinda shouty, too, or maybe just urgent.

When one would call the Beasties' PR firm Nasty Little Man (hello Steve!) the receptionist would say "Hello Nasty." And that's how babies are made.

Hi John
First time checking in live as I'm normally on the archive a day behind. Checking in from China again. If you see fit to drop in a bit of Sleaford Mods today or this week will be greatly appreciated.
My thoughts and wishes for you this and next week as I can't begin to understand your recent losses in such a short time. It's always painful when we have to say goodbye!
Richard
Like peanut butter and chocolate, Laverne AND Shirley, this is just two great tastes that taste great together.
Hey, did he just sing Sufjan Stevens?
Yes, yes he did.
I'm assuming y'all have the last half hour planned out BUT... it's been forever since I've heard any old, old, first album Adam and the Ants. Gearing up for his show in May. Thanks! Dave in Magnolia

“‘Hello’ is the story of a young man who requires daily consults with health professionals in order to rationalise his self-destructive thoughts and routines,” the band’s leader Kai James shared in a statement. “It’s about romanticizing your own misery. Letting those deep, dark, dirty thoughts take over. Understanding that even if you could pull yourself out, you wouldn’t because the constant stress and worry are all too familiar and comfortable.”
Could you throw in some Teenage Fanclub since I already thought you played them like 3 times this morning? (Jesus and Mary Chain and Jayhawks from two rooms away have an unreal audio resemblance) 😉
Something from Bandwagonesque…
