Singer Hanna Joy says about this new single, "There was a lot of confusion and information and rules and anger and people judging people and loss and distrust. I eventually felt so overwhelmed by all the noise, I couldn’t take it anymore. The guitars are kinda shouty, too, or maybe just urgent. I wanted to stack a lot of guitar layers to create almost a guitar choir. We got a friend, Brendan Champion, to play some brass on it, which really elevates the song as it marches along."

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Joel Gibb of the Canadian band The Hidden Cameras add backing vocals to this mandolin-led strummer. The members of R.E.M. have long been friends with the Pearl Jam frontman. This is first new single of 2024 and will appear on "Ohio Players," out in April. “We’d never worked harder to make a record,” Dan Auerbach said of Ohio Players in a press statement. “It’s never taken us this long to make an album. We took our time and did it right.”
“What we wanted to accomplish with this record was make something that was fun,” Patrick Carney added. “And something that most bands 20 years into their career don’t make, which is an approachable, fun record that is also cool.”

This song was written in reaction to an incident where the BBC DJ, Steve Wright, played the trite and spunky Wham! track, "I'm Your Man," following a news report about the Chernobyl disaster. Guitarist Johnny Marr, recalled:: "'Panic' came about at the time of Chernobyl. Morrissey and myself were listening to a radio report about it. The stories of this shocking disaster comes to an end and then immediately we're off into Wham's 'I'm Your Man.' I remember actually saying, 'What the f*ck has this got to do with people's lives?' And so, 'Hang the blessed DJ.' I think it was a great lyric, important and applicable to anyone who lives in England."

Written by Kevin Shields and Bilinda Butcher, both vocalists and guitarists for My Bloody Valentine, this is the album opener and second single from "Loveless." The track is known for what Shields calls the "glide guitar" technique, which he explained in a 1992 Guitar World interview as "just two amps facing each other, with tremolo. And the tremolo on each amp is set to a different rate. There's a mic between the two amps. I did a couple of overdubs of that, then I reversed it and played it backwards into a sampler. I put them on top of each other so they kind of merged in."

Belfast-based producer and soundtrack creator David Holmes has released his first LP since 2008. He calls the album "a 14-track interrogation of the last decade, time spent watching a decaying, fraying Britain visibly buckling in real time."
