The recording of the Big Calm started on Christmas Day in 1995, while Morcheeba members Paul and Ross Godfrey awaited the release of their debut album Who Can You Trust?. The band mapped out initial demos at their home studio, then brought in vocalist Skye Edwards and other guest performers to complete the album. Big Calm was released in 1998.
Blind On A Galloping Horse was written, produced, and arranged by David Holmes, featuring Raven Violet. Holmes, who is from Belfast, calls the new album "a 14-track interrogation of the last decade, time spent watching a decaying, fraying Britain visibly buckling in real time."
The cover shot was taken post riot in 70’s Belfast by local cult street photographer Bill Kirk.

Only You was written by Vince Clarke while he was still with Depeche Mode, but recorded in 1982 after he formed Yazoo with Alison Moyet.
The “Exploding” video, co-directed and filmed by Bridgette Winten, features vignettes of Angie McMahon against a backdrop of strikingly celestial light projections, playing with sparklers on the beach, and running through neighborhood streets. Angie shares, “I wanted the song to sound as big as flying through the galaxy, to be a space to fall apart into. It’s not always clear where we’re supposed to fall apart, but I just know it’s important that we do.”

Florence Welch previously told DIY Magazine: "Originally I wanted the song to be called ‘Offering’ because I was thinking of offering of a heart or a sacrifice. At the time I felt under quite a lot of pressure toward the end of the album and I had wanted to make an upbeat song, but obviously it became about the premise of ‘What are you actually giving up?’ or if it’s not a ‘give’, ‘What is it actually taking away from you?"

Early demo from This Boy is Exhausted from The Meadowlands, the Wrens' third and final studio album.
Recording of the album began in January 1999, after the band had spent the the previous year courting record labels following their departure from Grass Records. Drummer Jerry MacDonald had married and moved out of the house that all four band members had shared when younger, but the other three members remained living in the house in Fort Lee, New Jersey where the album was recorded, MacDonald joining them when circumstances allowed to record his drum parts. However, an album that was supposed to be recorded in a few weeks ended up taking four years to complete.

This song from IDLES' forthcoming fifth album features LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy and Nancy Whang.
Frontman Joe Talbot told NME how he approached Murphy and Whang while on tour with LCD Soundsystem to ask if they would provide the vocals on “Dancer.”
“If you don’t ask, you don’t get,” Talbot said. “By that point we’d been touring with them for a few weeks and knew they were lovely human beings. They took time out of their day off and took us to their studio. They were really accommodating and lovely, so hard-working, patient and awesome. They’re sick.”

This song title "Goodbye" was a kind of joke. It was a couple years before The Sundays released music following their debut album, and the first single from the second album - this song - was titled "Goodbye," prompting the NME to say "Goodbye already? You only just bloody came back!"
New music from Australian trio Middle Kids. According to vocalist Hannah Joy, “Highlands” pays tribute to her Scottish background. “Since I was young, I’ve had this yearning to be free,” she says. “I used an image of the ‘highlands’ as a euphoric place where I have the space to be me, and you have the space to be you.
“Part of the imagery comes from my Scottish heritage, which my grandmother was always proud of. I recorded some big slow piano chords which Tim (Fitz) mangled into the atmospheric hits in the intro.”

Dream, Ivory, the Southern California-based duo of brothers Christian and Louie Baello, have shared a new single, written in collaboration with Melina Duterte of Jay Som, called “Milk.”

The Lol Tolhurst, Budgie, Jacknife Lee trio share Ghosted At Home, one of their three collaborations with Primal Scream leader Bobby Gillespie.
In a press release, Budgie says:
"In life, it is rare to hear someone telling their story and for us to recognize it as our own. It is rarer still when that story relates to a complex, dangerous, and psychologically damaging relationship. Porno for Pyros have released their first new song in 26 years. The original lineup of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefano, and Martyn LeNoble have shared “Agua.”
The band is joining with the Surfrider Foundation to advocate for protecting the oceans and the coasts. “The people who live here on the West Coast have a beautiful love and passion for the Pacific Ocean,” Farrell said. “The ocean doesn’t look right, doesn’t feel right, doesn’t surf right. You go and swim in it, and you get the creeps. The sunsets are different. We are really, really screwing it up. We have to do something about it. I wanted to bring attention to it through the best megaphone that I know, which is music.”

In an interview with Absolute Radio Paul Weller said of "That's Entertainment": "I wrote it in 10 mins flat, whilst under the influence, I'd had a few but some songs just write themselves. It was easy to write, I drew on everything around me."
In 2012, the duo performed the song in front of Paul Simon at the Polar Music Prize, and he rewarded them with a standing ovation.
