Sneaker Pimps took their name from an article the Beastie Boys published in their Grand Royal magazine about a man they hired to track down classic sneakers.
In an interview with Clash Music, Brimheim says that “Throughout my life, I’ve behaved in a lot of self destructive ways, attempting to fill this deep, barren void inside of me with everything from drugs to self-harm. But more than anything else, I’ve had to reckon with an unquenchable desire for other people’s approval and adoration, both as a human being and as an artist. That’s what ‘Literally Everything’ is about – the overwhelming impulse to sacrifice everything, including my self respect, in exchange for a moment of admiration.”

The album's title is from the philosophical novel "Sophie's World" by Jostein Gaarder. No, that's not Bono on the lead vocals for this U2 song. Producer Brian Eno tried to get songwriter Bono to sing the song, but Bono maintained it was Cash's voice he imagined singing the song. -- In the band's autobiography "U2 by U2", Bono explained the lyrical inspiration: "I wrote the lyric based on the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament, which in some translation is called The Preacher. It's a story of intellectual wanderlust. The preacher wants to find out the meaning of life and so he tries a bit of everything. He tries knowledge, educates himself, reads every book, but that doesn't do it. He tries travel, sees every sight, but that doesn't do it. He tries wine, women and song, that doesn't do it. All, he says, is vanity, vanity of vanities, striving after wind. As you read this book you think, 'I can't wait to hear what does do it!' This is their fifteenth record, and their first since the passing of keyboardist Andy Fletcher. Martin Gore revealed, "We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time. After Fletch's passing, we decided to continue as we're sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning."
