But it feels good to beg. A reckoning with time and memory. The song is exhausted with loving someone so much it hurts.”

The Smile have announced their next album, Wall of Eyes. The project is out January 26 via XL. The band has also shared a video for the title track, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Thom Yorke. Check it out below.
Wall of Eyes was recorded between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, and was produced and mixed by Sam Petts-Davies. The album also features strings from the London Contemporary Orchestra, per a statement.

I’ve been listening for years, becoming a daily listener in 2013 as I was coming to terms with addiction, the imminent death of my dad, and (more happily) the birth of my daughter. Things started getting better, not every day, but gradually things got so much better. I’ve come to terms, with the advice of a couple of therapists, that fall is something for me to be aware of as I let grief and worry creep in and overtake my day-to-day. This year, I was talking with my newest therapist when I realized that I had not commemorated or wallowed in the anniversary of my dad's passing, nor did I get totally bummed out when the M’s flamed out in the stretch.
This is new. I feel like the community I know and don’t know that supports me with kind words, music and love has really made the difference and KEXP has been a cornerstone for me. Thank you for everything you do.
The day you turned a page for me with my addiction, you played Temptation and Up Against the Wall back to back. I was on a bicycle riding to work and it was like the sun came out on a gray Chicago morning. Thanks for that ray of light.
