Golden Brown was the most played song in the UK in 1982. #Facts. The most popular song in the US that same year? You guessed it, "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor came in second and then, thank goodness Joan Jett released "I Love Rock 'n Roll" which came in third. thestranglers.co.uk

Hurray for the Riff Raff has announced a new album called The Past Is Still Alive is due out February 23 via Nonesuch. The lead single “Alibi,” is "...a last ditch effort to get through to someone you already know you’re gonna lose. It’s a song to myself, to my Father, almost fooling myself because I know what’s done is done. But it feels good to beg. A reckoning with time and memory. The song is exhausted with loving someone so much it hurts. Addiction separates us. With memories of the Lower East Side in the early 2000s of my childhood, mixed with imagery of the endless West that calls to artists and wanderers.” 3/30 – Seattle, WA – Neumos

Released as a single yesterday (November 8th) in 1949. The A-side, "My Bucket's Got a Hole in It." #TheMoreYouKnow ==== Hi John, Would you play a song for my wife Lisa? She's missing her father, who died last spring unexpectedly. We've been planning our family holiday gatherings and remembering how he always gave his grandchildren, including our little boys, the most thoughtful presents. It just won't feel the same without him. Her dad, Bud, loved old-school country and Americana, and I bet a song in his memory would mean a lot to Lisa as she's mourning him today. Thank you so much for being you. <3 Kate

For the amazing team of Radiation Oncology Therapists at Fred Hutch. Thank you for the incredible work you do everyday. Scott in Woodinville, WA A little over one month ago a team of radiation oncology therapists from the Fred Hutch radiation oncology clinic went to work zapping the cancer cells in my body. They will administer my final treatment this morning and all indications are that they have been completely successful in eliminating that @#$%ing cancer from my body. I can't begin to express my heart-felt thanks to these lifesavers for all that they did for me and that they do EVERY day for the other patients that come to them for help. These kind, wonderful human beings and their co-workers are true heroes. Please dedicate a song to them. Many thanks.

Hey John So today is my birthday but it's a little different this year. What makes it different is that I'm turning 54, which is the same age my dad was when he passed away about 32 years ago. I'm having this strange jumble of thoughts. There are times when I definitely feel the years (standing for a live show gets a little tough these days) but I look back at my dad's brief 54 years and think "that's so young". My words are probably failing me but music never has. If you can fit it "Ooh La La" by the Faces because I'm sure we all wish we knew now when we were younger. Thanks for the music. Paul from Danbury

When "More Light" was released in 2013, Bobby Gillespie said, " I wanted to convey coming out of a dark time and into a good one. We always knew it wasn’t going to be a straight -ahead, balls-to-the-wall, high-energy rock & roll, two guitars, bass and drum record. It’s sophisticated, layered, cinematic and orchestral..." -- In the video, the Scottish rockers hark back to another time with a vintage-looking black-and-white clip that finds them playing the euphoric, gospel-influenced tune in the studio.: www.youtube.com
