From First Aid Kit's cover album "Who By Fire: A Live Tribute to Leonard Cohen." The 20-track recording was performed across two nights at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm in March of 2017 as a theatrical staging of Leonard Cohen’s songs, poems, and letters. The duo said in a statement: “We recently listened back to this concert and realized that this was something out of the ordinary for us. It was a challenge to create a performance that wasn’t centered around First Aid Kit songs. It was something we’d never done before, but everything came together so well. Dwelling deeply into Cohen’s world was a pleasure, he was so prolific as both a poet and a songwriter, and everything he ever put out held a very strong standard. He cared immensely for his work."

Prince co-wrote ‘Stand Back’ with Stevie Nicks after she departed from Fleetwood Mac and went solo. Nicks credits ‘Little Red Corvette’ as the track’s inspiration. In the liner notes to her TimeSpace album, Nicks explained: "I got married the day I wrote this song. We were driving to Santa Barbara and a new song by Prince came on, so we pulled over somewhere and got the tape. It just gave me an incredible idea, so I spent many hours that night writing a song about some kind of a crazy argument, and it was to become one of the most important of my songs." Headed into the studio to record, Stevie called Prince and told him the story of how she wrote the song to his melody. One night in 1983, Prince came to the studio and played synthesizers on it. "Whenever I play 'Stand Back' from this day forward, Prince will be standing next to me," Nicks said. "That is always going to be a joy." - bit.ly

Zach Condon of Beirut shared this statement about the new song The Tern: "The base of this song comes from an old Roland synthesizer and drum machine part which I had lying around from a previous Berlin session. The lyrics I improvised on the spot and finished the song off by adding layers of church organs and hand percussion. I stacked the parts high despite always being afraid of overdoing it. In the end I was confused how I had written such a seemingly positive and even hopeful song, but once I took a closer look at the lyrics, I saw the real nature of the hidden defeat and triumph of caution rather than of hope." www.stereogum.com The new album Hadsel will be out on November 10th. www.beirutband.com

Lead guitarist Johnny Hickman once explained how "Low" came together: "The song started with me coming up with that guitar riff just noodling around at a soundcheck in Portland one day, but it's really David's [Lowery] song. He wrote the title and lyrics after the fact, which are fantastic. David and Davey Faragher (bassist) started looking for chords to play around my guitar riff. A few days later David had the song completed."

Prior to its being released as an official single, "Stars" received heavy airplay on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, "KROQ jumped on the song so soon that RCA had to rush release the song nationwide, a full month before the scheduled release of [the] single." Hum's drummer Bryan St. Pere credited KROQ with making the song so popular, saying in an interview, "Yeah, I think [KROQ] helped us out the most, because from what I gather, that's the station in the country, and when they decide to add a song, all the other stations kind of follow suit." Incesticide: Nirvana's compilation album. It consists of their 1990 non-album single "Sliver", B-sides, demos, outtakes, cover versions, and radio broadcast recordings. Early in 1992, Jonathan Poneman of Sub Pop contacted Gary Gersh, who had previously signed Nirvana to DGC Records, to inform him that Sub Pop still had a number of unreleased early Nirvana recordings in their possession. Nirvana had intended to release the material via Sub Pop and cynically called it Cash Cow. Sub Pop later sold the recordings to Geffen for "a six-figure amount" on the condition that the band would create and approve the release of an album by Christmas 1992.

"March Of The Pigs" is the fourth track on 1994's "The Downward Spiral." It has one of the most unusual meters of any song to enjoy popular radio play, alternating three measures of 7/8 time with one measure of 4/4 time in the verses (in effect, a 29/8 time signature). The chorus is in the common 4/4 time signature. As a result, with eighth notes getting the count, the song has a BPM rate of 269.: www.nin.wiki
