Happy 61st bday to the AMAZING Tracey Thorn best known for Everything But The Girl.

“It was always a little hard to know whether they [Massive Attack] liked what I’d done," said Thorn. "I did get the feeling that Mushroom especially was a little bit suspicious of why I was there. I think 'Protection' was one of his tracks. I’m not sure he was ever convinced.”
Um, that's not Massive Attack football, Mushroom.

Wilson worked on Realms throughout the pandemic and says "It’s [like] a slow baking cake, which sometimes is better,” she says. “And because you were so tense during COVID times, it was definitely a relief to be able to be creative. It’s a psychological thing. I like working—I feel like it’s an important thing to do because I enjoy it, and it’s healthy for me to do it.”

Polaris is a star in the northern circumpolar constellation of Ursa Minor. It is commonly called the North Star or Pole Star. With an apparent magnitude that fluctuates around 1.98, it is the brightest star in the constellation and is readily visible to the naked eye at night.
The band originally booked studio sessions for April 2020 that were cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, the band suffered the loss of Rachel Goswell's mother and Simon Scott's father. Neil Halstead, who wrote all of the album's songs, said that the music was more of an "escape" from the darkness that the band's members were going through. Goswell struggled with alcoholism in the wake of her grief before entering sobriety. "I thought it was going to be quite a dark record but once we got together as a band, I think some of that darkness lifted and some of the tunes became a bit lighter."

Hae, Mae, Happy BIRTHDAE!!!
On this day 54 years ago in 1969 The Beatles' released "Abbey Road." For the first time on a Beatles album, the front cover contained neither the group's name nor the album title - just that iconic photograph taken on the zebra crossing near the entrance to the studios in London in August 1969.
BTW, Kurt Steiner once threw a stone that skipped on the water 88 times. Yeah, 88 skips. That's the Guinness World Record.

"The Chemical Brothers have a great predilection for exploration," Beck said of his experience collaborating with the duo. "They kind of sit in an unusual place between different eras of electronic music and DJ culture. It’s like they have one foot in multiple decades at the same time in a way that is utterly unique among their peers." tinyurl.com

The band wrote the album on the tour for their previous album, Loving in Stereo (2021), and began recording it in an Airbnb rental in Los Angeles before returning to Studio B of Metropolis Studios in London. Josh Lloyd called it "the most honest record [the band has] made."

Jungle live in the KEXP Studio a few years ago was pure magic: youtu.be
This track off the third album from the Swedish band is based off a real person. Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow told Notion in 2016 that this album, "kicked off with the first time anyone’s really ever broken my heart and it was a long process of recovery, much longer than I thought it would be." Back in 2009 Mikke Snow performed "burial" live in the old KEXP studio! bit.ly
Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. insane how fast it went. Anyway, at our reception, my wife Alison and I had a list of songs "to" play and some "not to" play. On the "to" play list, one song the DJ said "no don't do this not enough people know it!". We said screw off, play it anyway.
So, if you have time today, could you please play Rockafeller Skank by Fat Boy Slim as a request to my wife, my best friend Ted, and his sister Sharon, who were the only ones to join us rocking out to this on the dance floor.

“I wrote and recorded the demo in my bedroom in one day, during my final year of university in 2018,” frontwoman Lily Fontaine commented on the inspiration behind ‘The World’s Biggest Paving Slab’ in press materials. Adding: “Moving to a city for university forced me to reflect on how my experience of growing up in and around Pendle, how witnessing the social, economic and political issues that exist around there in juxtaposition with the beauty of the landscape and the characters that live within in it, has shaped me into the artist and person that I am.”
This single was released on this day in 1980. Here's the band playing live on KEXP in Austin www.youtube.com

Is there nothing First Aid cannot do? They could cover the music to a 70s commercial and make it great. They could make We Built This City by Starship into an epic journey. Give them the theme to Threes Company and WATCH OUT!
Today on the morning show...
It's been a long dark night
And I've been a waitin' for the morning
It's been a long hard fight
But I see a brand new day a dawning
I've been looking for the sunshine
