Rob Dickinson gave an interview in 2006 in which he describes "crank" as being British slang for an odd or eccentric person. When he sings "call me crank," he's actually referring to how he views himself and that he's comfortable in acknowledging that he's a bit unusual.
"Creep" was not initially a chart success, but it became a worldwide hit after being re-released in 1993. "Creep" remains Radiohead's most successful single.

Revolver were a London-based guitar band active 1990 to 1994. Bandmates Mat Flint and Nick Dewey had been in school bands together, and when the two moved to London in the autumn of 1990, they met bassist Hamish Brown who completed the line-up.
In 1993, the band released the album Cold Water Flat, following their debut Baby's Angry. Unfortunately, previous sales failed to repeat from their first album, and their label dropped them. The band recorded an album's worth of demos, but failing to sign a deal with another label split up at the beginning of 1994.
In deliberate contrast to the full sentences featured on previous recordings—something for which the group had often been parodied within the music press—all of the songs on the album Seamonsters have one-word titles.

Keyboardist, Gillian Gilbert, makes an appearance on backing vocals on this song. She was previously in the punk band The Inadequates before joining New Order.

"It is no secret that I am a big admirer of the Pixies. I discovered them way back in 1989 when a school friend slipped me a cassette of Doolittle. I was 14 and up to that point my musical world had been almost entirely classical. I was blown away. Their use of contrasting dynamics, unorthodox song structures and multilayered melodies were a revelation to me and have heavily influenced me as a musician ever since. During last year’s lockdown I found comfort in the piano and decided to revisit and rearrange some of my favourite Pixies tracks. This resulted in the release of Pixies Reimagined in August 2020."
