The sun is back out today - good morning. A few words about this song from Sting: "I actually wrote the song in Ireland, where I was living at the time. It was during the hunger strikes in Belfast. I wanted to write about that but I wanted to show some light at the end of the tunnel. I do think there has to be an 'invisible sun'. You can't always see it, but there has to be something radiating light into our lives."

The third solo album (and first in five years) from the LA-based producer. Clanton said the song is "Softer than my previous efforts, but with an anthemic chorus. I feel like Liam Gallagher with this song, but no one I share it with gets “oasis” so I guess I don’t understand how it comes across." tinyurl.com georgeclanton.bandcamp.com

"Dear John, Owen, and team, Good morning from Mexico City! I hadn’t been outside of the United States in four years and I’m so happy to explore this complex, gorgeous city. It’s a birthday adventure as I turn 50, though I always feel about 12. We’re listening to the morning show as we prepare for our day and I’m struck, as I am every time I listen, how special KEXP and your show both are. I’m grateful for you all every day. You keep me grounded and dancing, a surreal feat! If you’re so inclined, would you play Jesus and Mary Chain’s “Just Like Honey”? Thank you, wonderful people, ~Shannon"

Morrissey said in 1985 that this song was inspired by the music journalists who persistently mocked him for writing about "the unhappy side of life." Morrissey added: "When I wrote the words for that, I was just so completely tired of all the same old journalistic questions and people trying, you know, this contest of wit, trying to drag me down and prove that I was a complete fake. And I was tired of that because it just seemed that, like, even the people within popular music, even the people within the music industry, didn't have that much faith in it as an art form. And they wanted to really get rid of all these people who are trying to make some sense out of the whole thing. And I found that really distressing."

The Drive That Fast EP followed the band's 1989 debut album Love Is Hell. Kitchens of Distinction formed in South London in 1986, and were considered to be part of the shoegaze genre. At the time, the band initially did not attain commercial success or widespread recognition because lead singer Patrick Fitzgerald was openly gay. The group disbanded in 1996 but 19 years later, in September 2012, Patrick Fitzgerald announced Kitchens of Distinction's reunion, followed by the 2013 release of their fifth album.

The track was initially teased on SoundCloud on the day of its release, before being officially released on streaming services before quickly being removed, only for it too gain popularity on major Demand-side platforms and a YouTuber uploading it, which quickly got taken down. Around the same time, streaming service Deezer posted details for the EP the track will be on, which has also deleted, the EP and track was officially announced through Bandcamp through Warp Records. Happy birthday Tori Amos, born on this day in 1963! Tori fought hard for the whistling that comes in over her piano at the beginning of the song. Everyone else - including her then-boyfriend/producer Eric Rosse - was in favor of a mandolin line that guitarist Steve Caton came up with. "Everybody really liked that," she told The Baltimore Sun in 1994. "And even in the mix studio, I was screaming at the top of my lungs that it had to be a whistle. I want the cowboys coming over the hill. Eric was laughing his head off, and the mixer, Kevin Killen, said to me, 'This whistle is naff, Tori.'" (British slang for unfashionable). "And I said, 'Well, guess what, Kevin. When you make your own song, you can put your own mandolin on it. This is a whistle. F--king put it in. Put the sample in.' So I got my whistle, and I'm happy as a clam to this day."

Hey John, thanks for always spinning the good tunes and being a positive voice in this complicated world. I was wondering if you'd play something from the band Television if it suits your fancy. Thank you! James - "Marquee Moon" was recorded in just two weeks. “The Doors (debut) record was done in three days,” Television guitarist Richard Lloyd says. “Jazz records were recorded in the time it takes to play them. The thing about spending a year and a half on a record is more often than not, it’ll come out sounding like overdone pasta. The time did go into it, but it was before we went into the studio.” consequence.net

LA Duo ill peach released their first love song "BLOOM." Speaking on the new single, the duo explain, “‘BLOOM’ might be our only love song. A bittersweet one. It’s about testing the boundaries of a long-distance relationship. How can you love and be with someone if you can’t see them? In the flux of everything that happened these past few years, we saw friends and longtime relationships break up like a ripple effect. But also surprisingly, the ones that had it the hardest around us found love in the ashes, a beginning to an ending. Love can and will navigate anything if you believe it. So ‘BLOOM’ is our anthem to fighting for love.” rollacoaster.tv
