"Right Here, Right Now" is from Doubt (1991), the second studio album by Jesus Jones. Inspiration for this song struck in 1989 when Mike Edwards was listening to the Simple Minds' version of "Sign O' The Times," which they recorded on a 1989 EP titled The Amsterdam. The song, written and originally recorded by Prince, is his perspective of the troubling events of the late '80s. While Edwards listened to the music, he watched the Berlin Wall coming down on television. "I never thought that I'd see such a thing in my lifetime," he told The Guardian in 2018, "and I wanted to write a sort of updated but positive 'Sign O' The Times' to reflect what was happening." Jesus Jones originally sampled Prince's "Sign O' The Times" for the song and constructed a guitar solo out of "lots of Jimi Hendrix samples mashed together." None of this sampling made it onto the record, because of fears of being sued. -bit.ly

Brian Eno produced this great album! When asked, why Manchester’s often overlooked lyrical heroes James has survived all of these years, lead singer and lyricist Tim Booth responds with two words—and his name is Brian Eno. Booth explained his reasoning when he said, “When you’ve got Brian Eno you’re not going to give up. Everywhere I went, Michael Stipe would say ‘How did you get to work with Brian Eno, I’ve been trying to work with him for years’. Flea would say ‘How did you get to work with Brian Eno for five albums?’ We had that. Brian, God bless him, says we were his favorite band. We had an amazing time with him. He’s definitely the fifth Beatle. And we miss him!” - bit.ly wearejames.com

This song is about someone sitting and watching the clouds change, like many of us have done as a child. Sometimes the clouds will change into shapes that remind you of a person or object. "I think we forget these pleasures as adults," Bush explained in a 1985 fan club newsletter. "We don't get as much time to enjoy those kinds of things, or think about them, we feel silly about what we used to do naturally. The song is also suggesting the coming of the next flood - how perhaps the 'fools on the hills' will be the wise ones." - bit.ly www.katebush.com

April is National Poetry Month and the ninth studio album by The Chemical Brothers takes its name from a line in the poem "Geography" by the New York poet Michael Brownstein, whose reading of it is also sampled on the title track. www.thechemicalbrothers.com --- Norwegian singer Aurora co-wrote this song with The Chemical Brothers and is featured on vocals. The duo said, "Aurora really made this by coming up with these amazing images. Sonics-wise, there are a lot of ideas and a lot of movement. There are moments where it almost feels that whole thing has gone too far, the way it builds and then you’re back down. It's a rolling psychedelic journey, for want of a better word." -- Aurora was live in the KEXP studio in 2018: www.youtube.com

The song has a definite Prince influence. The late Minneapolis star was both a friend to and a heavy influence on Monáe, remixing The Electric Lady's lead single "Q.U.E.E.N" and appearing on another of its tracks "Givin Em What They Love." The Purple One worked closely with the songstress on Dirty Computer prior to his death in April, 2016. "It's difficult for me to even speak about this because Prince was helping me with the album, before he passed on to another frequency," Monáe said. - bit.ly

Harvey said of her debut album: "Dry is the first chance I ever had to make a record and I thought it would be my last. So, I put everything I had into it. It was a very extreme record. According to author Nicholas Pegg, "The Jean Genie" originated as an impromptu jam, at this point titled "Bussin'," on the tour bus between the first two concerts in Cleveland and Memphis. Bowie completed the song in Autumn 1972 during his 1972 US tour, completing the song in New York City, where he spent time with the Warhol set's Cyrinda Foxe. Bowie later asserted, "I wrote it for her amusement in her apartment. Sexy girl." Bowie later in the 1990s described the song as "a smorgasbord of imagined America" and "my first New York song." bit.ly
