A song Costello wrote after his frustration with the BBC's censorship of the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen." In 2003 he told Rolling Stone: "There's a real skill to programming in an intelligent way, but nobody does that anymore. It's all done by computer, by committee. Radio is absolutely the enemy of music. They are my sworn and mortal enemy, and I will have nothing to do with them."

Upon sharing two new singles, the band shares, "Two new lambs for the cultural volcano! One more sweet slurp of alcopop dedicated to the girls wiping tables called 'Belinda Says' and the dial-up electronic dream 'Very Online Guy.' We directed a mosaic-mode vid for ‘V.O.G’. with our videoguru friend Colby. This was easily the funnest thing we’ve ever shot. Enjoy our clunky low-bit collage of aliased key clacking and step-dance scramble on your CRTs." bit.ly Alvvays is currently finishing up their Fall 2022 tour.

This song was inspired by a fire in Karen O's East Village apartment when she was 19. She said, "If the world is on fire, I hope the most beloved stay protected and that we do all we can to protect what we cherish most in this life. “Burning” is a song about that feeling, smoke signals for the soul." -- Watch the official video for this song: www.youtube.com

John, I missed getting this note in on time for the Music Heals day, but since you’re doing 1978… My dad died of a glioblastoma in 2013 and while I’m always doing better I still miss him and his ridiculous sense of humor. I was talking about him with my daughter on our ride to school. How even though he’s not here, I can still have the conversations with him that we never got the chance to have. I can imagine his laugh, and listen to the music he enjoyed. Until I was 5 we owned a campground in Spokane, and the bedroom I shared with my sister was directly above the recreation room, where for better or worse, the jukebox was located. In the late 70s early 80s, every jukebox had abba on it and that was like a lullaby to us. We’d hear that baseline coming up through the floor and it would put me to sleep knowing that my parents were just downstairs. When I was in High school, I asked why of all artists, Abba was played so much. He laughed and immediately put on Take a Chance on Me (single released 1978) and proceeded to dance on the coffee table. In front of me. In front of my friends. In front of my new girlfriend. Horrifying to a 16 year old, hilarious to a 36 year old at his father’s memorial. Andy

(Here's the original from the glam band: www.youtube.com) In 1978, each member of KISS released a solo album, and this was the highest-charting single of any of the songs released from those albums. Joey explains the chorus: "It's a road song. I wrote it in 1977, through the 78. Well, Danny Fields was our first manager and he would work us to death. We would be on the road 360 days a year, and we went over to England, and we were there at Christmas time, and in Christmas time, London shuts down. There's nothing to do, nowhere to go. Here we were in London for the first time in our lives, and me and Dee Dee Ramone were sharing a room in the hotel, and we were watching The Guns of Navarone. So there was nothing to do, I mean, here we are in London finally, and this is what we are doing, watching American movies in the hotel room."

The front cover of the album, conceived by Byrne and executed by artist Jimmy De Sana, is a photomosaic of the band comprising 529 close-up Polaroid photographs. In a 1979 interview with Creem, Tina Weymouth said of the title: When we were making this album I remembered this stupid discussion we had about titles for the last album," Tina smirked. "At that time I said, 'What are we gonna call an album that's just about buildings and food?' And Chris said, 'You call it more songs about buildings and food.' XTC frontman Andy Partridge later claimed, however, that he gave the title to Byrne.

Recovering from legal troubles and the stress of the breakthrough success of Born to Run, Springsteen recorded a somewhat less commercial album in Darkness on the Edge of Town. As with the original LP's sequencing, Springsteen continued his "four corners" approach from Born to Run, as the songs beginning each side ("Badlands" and "The Promised Land") were martial rallying cries to overcome circumstances, while the songs ending each side ("Racing in the Street", "Darkness on the Edge of Town") were sad dirges of circumstances overcoming all hope
