'Pikul' is the debut album from Silversun Pickups, released in 2005. The album includes 16 untitled tracks after "...All the Go Inbetweens", all of which are about 44 seconds long each, concealing a hidden track at the end ("Sci-Fi Lullaby"). The album name comes from the nickname of a friend of the band who died, and to whom the album is dedicated. The name is commonly pronounced "Pickle", but the correct pronunciation is "pie-kull".

Released in 2005, 'Illinois' is Sufjan Steven's fifth studio album. The album is filled with songs celebrating this state of Illinois. This was Steven's second album based on a U.S. state, the first being his 2003 album 'Michigan'. Both were part of his ambitious "50 States" project which he has since acknowledged as a joke. bit.ly

Lead singer of James delivered this slice of greatness in 2005.
Frontman Tim Booth wrote the lyrics of “Beautiful Beaches” in response to climate change migration and the increasingly regular Californian fires that eventually forced him to move his family from Topanga Canyon to Costa Rica. “We love how this song is so uplifting, focusing on new beginnings,” says Booth. “I like the idea that many might not know the backstory and hear it as a post-Covid holiday song! Praying that the lyrics don’t turn out prophetic.”

Thank you for continuing all the Low love today in celebration of Mimi’s life and talent. I cried for about an hour on Sunday morning when I read the news. This is why I love KEXP…you’re salve for the soul!
I’ll never forget the show at the Charles Theatre in the late 90s. I stumbled upon Mimi doing her hair and makeup at the bathroom sink, but I was too nervous to talk to her! They played that night in one of the movie theaters with a single white candle burning down in real time on the screen behind them. It was pretty perfect.
Thankfully, I managed to share a few words with her several years later after a show. I’m still heartbroken.

Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp is joined by half of Swedish electronica duo The Knife - Karin Dreijer is featured on vocals for "What Else Is There?".
The music video was directed by Martin de Thurah. It features Norwegian model Marianne Schröder who is shown lip-syncing Dreijer's voice. Schröder is depicted as a floating woman traveling across stormy landscapes and within empty houses. Dreijer makes a cameo appearance as a woman wearing an Elizabethan ruff while dining alone at a festive table.
