"Love My Way" was the first Psychedelic Furs song to chart in America, where it reached #44 thanks in large part to exposure on MTV. To that point, most Americans only heard the band on college radio or at listening stations in independent record stores. After the song became a hit, the band moved to the States because they found the audience more receptive and they liked what New York had to offer.

'Pikul' is the debut album from Silversun Pickups, released in 2005. The album includes 16 untitled tracks after "...All the Go Inbetweens", all of which are about 44 seconds long each, concealing a hidden track at the end ("Sci-Fi Lullaby"). The album name comes from the nickname of a friend of the band who died, and to whom the album is dedicated. The name is commonly pronounced "Pickle", but the correct pronunciation is "pie-kull".

As a European living in Seattle since December 2016 (what amazing sense of timing) living in this country is really challenging to me for the disrespect for life and hypocrisy I see towards the human condition I see every week. But last week I saw a man at the store in the line before me wearing the “you are not alone” tee-shirt which made me feel better. The cashier read it out loud and said “I’m not alone?” And the customer responded “that’s pretty good news, right?” And for some reason that warmed my heart. A rude customer came into the store right after that and I hope the cashier had built a little extra buffer thanks to the message delivered by “you are not alone”. So thank YOU and thanks to KEXP for being one of the top good things about living here. Off to work now!

These words from Danish-Faroese singer songwriter, Brimheim, succinctly sums up her basic thesis of life. However, her ever present existential crisis has given birth to a beautiful world of music where weeping guitars and deep, intimate vocals make time stand still.
Behind “Brimheim” is Copenhagen based musician and songwriter, Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff. Her stage name is an homage to her Faroese roots, translating to ‘home of the breaking waves’.

This song was the album's leading single and was first teased in a letter sent out to some fans in February, that read “CHAPTER 1” and had a card inside. On the following day, billboards throughout London had the same card displayed, and the band’s website was updated with 15 cards, the first one being the “KING”, and an announcement that new music would be coming soon.
This record was released on this day in 1975. In 1974, Fleetwood Mac relocated from England to California to manage the band's affairs better. Shortly after finishing a tour, Bob Welch (guitarist, singer, and composer) left the band, ending Fleetwood Mac's ninth lineup in eight years.

Mojo magazine, in its May 2013 edition, asked Kim Deal if she had a sense this song would be a hit. She replied: "Did we record a song that opened with me saying, 'Check 1-2,' and then loads of vocal feedback from my brother's harmonica mike, and think, 'This is destined for radio?' That was the sort of thing that didn't get you played on the radio then. We thought no one would play it."

In 1980, David Bowie was in the middle of a new kind of transformation. After launching himself to stardom in 1969 with his first hit single, ""Space Oddity,"" he spent a decade morphing from Major Tom to Ziggy Stardust to Aladdin Sane to Halloween Jack to The Thin White Duke — a series of characters that also emblemized radically different approaches to rock music, from sci-fi glam to stark experimentalism. By the end of the '70s, however, he dispensed with such alter egos. Instead, he absorbed them all into a single if mercurial persona, one known simply as David Bowie. And that persona hinged on ""Ashes To Ashes.""

Noel Gallagher said in an interview that he never had a life goal until he penned this song. "Where I came from, and the times that I grew up in, it was best not to have any ambitions. It was quite a bleak time," he said. "I never had a life goal until I wrote 'Live Forever.' And then when I wrote 'Live Forever,' I wanted to be in the biggest band in the world."
How Do You Burn? was given its title by the late Mark Lanegan, who contributed backing vocals to two tracks on the record before his death in February.

Within our camp we have a saying: “Mad (stuff) happens when you do art”—it means what it means. You make stuff because you want to make it, and you throw stuff you’ve made into the world because you’d rather share it than not and then you leave it alone and let it do its thing. That thing you did can take you to places you didn’t intend to go with it, but it’s out of your control really. You have no control over the mad shit. It just happens (when you do art). Elton John saw our stuff and he started telling the press he thought we were good and then we chatted on the phone and after a few calls I said, “Elton, do you want to come to the studio and play piano on a tune?” because, f*** it, it doesn’t matter if he says no. Anyway, he said “yes,” so it doesn’t matter that he didn’t say no. I don’t know what else to say. He’s brilliant. Switched on, hilarious and an amazing musician.

The song, written about being an underachiever, received positive critical reviews. However, it also prompted a lawsuit from the publishers of The Stranglers, who claimed that Elastica took the song's riff from The Stranglers' "No More Heroes". The case was settled out of court.
