Hatchie spoke to KEXP's Sound and Vision podcast about the themes of shame and self-acceptance on her latest record, Giving The World Away, and how she worked a day job during COVID to save up to tour so she could pay her band and crew. “I really wanted this record to be as big as possible on tour so I wanted to add extra members to the lineup and I wanted to have our own soundperson and have a lighting show so that meant that I had to make some personal sacrifices and had to go back to work part-time so I could balance that and budget for it so that I can save up and not have to pay myself on tour, whereas I have to pay a band,” Hatchie says. I was obsessed with Tuesday because I thought it was the best night to go out, not too much chaos but just enough to have a good time. Generally, it’s about doing things that aren’t necessarily healthy or great for you, but you can’t help indulging. It’s like that unavoidable feeling that you get. You can’t get rid of it, and you know it’s bad, but you love it really, and it’s whatever, so you do it anyways." 'Talk' about the 7th best day of the week!

There’s a way through these times but it involves keeping the important people in your life close to you and navigating the noise together." Ultra Truth will be released on November 4th. www.nme.com
