Happy 55th to the late Jeff Buckley. -- "I love "So Real" because it's the actual quartet that you see in that picture right there that you have on the wall, on the album. And that one I produced live all one moment, the vocal is the first take, all one take. It was three o'clock in the morning." -Jeff Buckley, Grace Under Fire

Frontman and songwriter Conor O'Brien described this song to The Sun, as a "tragi-comedy." adding he "was very much influenced by Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut - that feeling of deep, dark moments being placed alongside compulsive hilarity."

Producer Owen Morris says that despite the friction between the Gallagher brothers, "The sessions were the best, easiest, least fraught, most happily creative time I've ever had in a recording studio. I believe people can feel and hear when music is dishonest and motivated by the wrong reasons. Morning Glory, for all its imperfection and flaws, is dripping with love and happiness."

Hi John! Since school opened up again and I’ve been driving my son to school every day, it’s found its way back into my daily routine— and you’ve got a new fan in the back seat. Hugo turns nine today, and would love to hear you play David Bowie’s Space Oddity for his birthday. Thanks, and keep doing what you do! Mike ================= A lovely morning down here in Portland. The sun has decided to show its face on a celebratory day....our beautiful son Huck turns 9. If you could squeeze in a little Bowie to the show, that'd be great. And while I know you can't get to all the requests, know that we're grateful for all of you up there in Seattle....each and every morning. Thanks for all that you do. In this together, we are not alone. In community, Nate & Beth ========= 9 year olds requesting Bowie gives me hope for the future - Carolyn in Seattle

The project of the Berlin-based Norwegian singer, songwriter and guitarist Anna Lena Bruland, she explains: 'The Beat' is a song about frustration at being told that you’re not good enough, and learning to not let criticism chip away at your confidence. Anna Lena said: “It’s about getting convinced by these voices and these people and thinking that they are right. When I say “Try to be more complete and to never repeat the beat”, that’s me trying to follow their “advice”. eeramusic.bandcamp.com

Good morning, 2021 has not been kind to me. I was in a car accident last month. The healing process has been a challenge. I would love to hear Car Crash by Idles. Hearing that Joe Talbot experienced the same thing that I went through makes me feel less alone when dealing with the aftermath. And I just need something to power through the day. Chicago’s Horsegirl, the trio of 17-19 year olds and “Billy,” their debut single/video via their new label, Matador. “There was a period of last year where the three of us spent every day together writing and recording. It was during this time, when we practically lived in Penelope’s basement, that ‘Billy’ was written. Penelope had recently read about Nick Drake's alternate tunings prompting her to detune her guitar, while Nora overlaid a rhythmic vocal line detailing the life of a fictional character, Billy. At the time, we had been listening to a lot of New Zealand underground bands (80’s/90’s Flying Nun). With that scrappiness in mind, we worked the rest of the song out through improvising together, and ‘Billy’ quickly fell into place."

Elizabeth from Edmonds writes regarding Dan Gregory's story: "THIS. This is why I power kexp. Thank you for having Dan on the show. I was getting ready to clean the house, but when he came on and started talking, I just sat down and listened. I'm going to channel his energy today, face that darkness, heal those wounds, and do my best to be a better person, for all of those around me, because in the end, aren't we all just one? Much love to all of you and especially to Dan today. "

When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of “disaster,” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world. slate.com

"It was just sunny and it was all just the release of that tension that had been building up on me," Harrison said in a 1969 BBC Radio interview. "It was just a really nice sunny day, and I picked up the guitar, which was the first time I'd played the guitar for a couple of weeks because I'd been so busy. And the first thing that came out was that song. It just came. And I finished it later when I was on holiday in Sardinia." - bit.ly
