Drunk For You”, is a song about a toxic relationship. Singer/songwriter Charlotte Cornfield spoke about the track:
“Sometimes desire betrays logic, and you end up at somebody’s door even after you’ve talked yourself out of it, in all of the ways. And that feeling can be intoxicating. And it can be painful. I recorded this song after the rest of the band had left the studio. It was just me, in the big room at the grand piano, and Howard and Shae in the control room behind the glass. I remember I felt truly alone, in a way that I needed to be to sing it properly. We did two takes and kept the first one, and if you listen closely you can hear the piano bench squeaking a little bit in the background, which makes it feel close and immediate."

Brandi shared that 'In These Silent Times' was inspired by the literal silence -- and solitude -- of the COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying touring hiatus.
"Never before have the twins and I written an album during a time of such uncertainty and quiet solitude," the singer reflected in a statement. The resulting album, she added, is "what drama mixed with joy sounds like. It's resistance and gratitude, righteous anger and radical forgiveness."

“[Iceland] is a nice place to meditate on the elements and particles,” Albarn told NME. “I’d been dreaming on making music while looking out of that window, when my friend from the Lyon Festival offered me the very tempting proposition of ‘You can do whatever you want’. I had immediately had something that I never thought would be feasible, so I organised musicians, string players, three bass trombones, some percussion and keyboards into an interesting arrangement.”
Albarn continued: “I took some of these realtime, extreme elemental experiences [of Iceland] and then tried to develop more formal pop songs with that as my source.
“I wanted to see where that would take me. Sometimes it took me down to Uruguay and Montevideo. Other times I went to Iran, Iceland or Devon. With travel being curtailed, it was kind of nice to be able to make a record that put me strangely in those places for a moment or two.”

Here's a story for you...
I was living in Seattle when my grandfather passed. He lived on Bainbridge Island, but his body was cremated at a Seattle funeral home, so I was asked by the family to pick up his ashes and bring them to B.I. It was a horrible rainy night - that was the year that parts of Queen Anne and Magnolia fell down due to the rains. Anyway, I was on the ferry with my grandfather's ashes in my crap car that had no radio and I was tired and bored, so I went up to get a coffee. I intended to just sit upstairs, but a voice in my head started saying to get downstairs. I ignored it, because why would I want to sit in my crappy car, but it just got louder and louder until it was practially screaming, so I headed back down to my car...and just as I was almost to the bottom of the stairs I saw a person jump off the back of the ferry!! There were almost no cars - the boat was nearly empty, so I had a perfect view. I started screaming for a crewman to turn the boat around, which they finally did (well, reversed it), and they found the woman in her bright yellow raincoat and hat bobbing in the water. They fished her out and, as it happened, one of the few vehicles on the boat was an ambulance, so they got her sorted and then we continued on to Bainbridge. I tried to follow up on her, but the hospital wouldn't give me any info on her. Anyway, that's one of many similar experiences I've had...

This is the first track from Kristin Hersh's debut solo studio album, Hips and Makers (1994), and features additional backing vocals from Michael Stipe of R.E.M. It was also featured in the film With Honors that spring, and according to Filmmaker magazine, the music video for the song was directed by Katherine Dieckmann, and is an homage to Maya Deren's groundbreaking 1943 experimental film Meshes of the Afternoon. bit.ly

In addition to Ministry, Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" has been covered by numerous bands and artists over the years, including the Byrds, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Guy and Anthony Hamilton, Melanie, the Isley Brothers, Bob Andy, Duran Duran, The Flaming Lips, Magnet, Hoyt Axton, Angélique Kidjo, Malaria!, Lorrie Morgan. Minimal Compact, and Pete Yorn. Whew!
In 1962, Dylan visited England for the first time. Here, he met many local folk artists, including Martin Carthy, who introduced Dylan to many traditional English ballads, including "Scarborough Fair." Dylan would lift the line "Remember me to one who lives there/She once was a true love of mine" from this ballad for "Girl From The North Country."
Trent Reznor, the writer of the song, was unsure of Johnny’s version to begin with, telling Alternative Press in 2004: “I was flattered, but frankly, the idea sounded a bit gimmicky to me."
Having said that, his mind soon changed after he saw the music video, after which he said in the same interview: “Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore.
“It really made me think about how powerful music is.
“I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in.
“Somehow that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era and still retains sincerity and meaning - different, but every bit as pure.”

You already know the deal with “Steal My Sunshine.” In 1999, a group of doofy Canadian rap heads called Len sampled an Andrea True Connection disco hit and made a dizzy, shambling, glorious one-off. The song went top-10 in a whole lot of countries, including the US, and Len, who seemed utterly bemused by the experience, never made another hit. (A few years ago, Stereogum had a very fun interview with Len frontman Marc Costanzo about the whole thing.) For their version, Portugal. The Man have enlisted the help of Cherry Glazerr frontwoman Clementine Creevy, and they’d done their best to replicate a vibe that cannot be replicated.
