The band's first effort for Capitol Records was an album which was recorded before Come Down called The Black Album, which was rejected by Capitol for, according to frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor, containing "no hit songs". It was later released as a double album in 2004 with Come On Feel the Dandy Warhols, an album composed of B-sides and previously unreleased material.

Sting to Revolver in 2000 about this one: "I actually wrote the song in Ireland, where I was living at the time. It was during the hunger strikes in Belfast. I wanted to write about that but I wanted to show some light at the end of the tunnel. I do think there has to be an 'invisible sun'. You can't always see it, but there has to be something radiating light into our lives."

It’s the first day my wife and many others are officially back to their schools after the summer, and whoa the mix of terror and blah. Could you play something to cheer on Erin and everyone else at Liberty High School in Renton? My son loves Simon and Garfunkel, so I’m thinking Paul Simon's “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.” Let’s all keep our teachers in mind, going back is always a mix of excitement and dread, and this year is that times 10.

The title of the song is a reference to Roald Dahl's book "James and the Giant Peach". Vocalist Ellie Rowsell described the song as "a song to dance to, but also a song to lose your (s-word, filth poop word) to."

I used to live in Seattle and volunteer at KEXP, but now I live in Phoenix. One of my dear friends lives in SLC, Utah, and we've really connected through KEXP, your show especially. He's going through some rough times and I wanted to play a song for him to cheer him up and let him know I'm thinking about him (that Quivers song you played earlier really nudged me lol).

RIP Charlie Watts. Thanks for uplifting us since 1963.
Charles Robert Watts (born June 2nd 1941) was an English drummer, best known as a member of the Rolling Stones since 1963. Originally trained as a graphic artist, he started playing drums in London's rhythm and blues clubs, where he met Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. In January 1963, he joined their fledgling group, the Rolling Stones, as drummer, while doubling as designer of their record sleeves and tour stages. Watts has been the only Rolling Stones member other than Jagger or Richards to have been featured on all of their studio albums.
A story that illustrates his quiet dignity and spunk from the 1980’s, apparently an intoxicated Mick Jagger phoned Watts's hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, "Where's my drummer?" Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my (bleeping) singer!"
In 1989, The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the July 2006 issue of Modern Drummer magazine, Watts was voted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame, joining Ringo Starr, Keith Moon, Steve Gadd, Buddy Rich and other highly esteemed and influential drummers from the history of rock and jazz.
In the estimation of noted music critic Robert Christgau, Watts is "rock's greatest drummer."
Charlie Watts has died, peacefully and surrounded by his family, at age 80.
