Recorded sometime between 1995-1996 by Jeff Buckley and the Cocteau Twins Elizabeth Fraser. It would not be finished before Buckley's tragic death in 1997. She told the Guardian in 2009 that while recording Massive Attack's "Teardrop" - "I'd got letters out and I was thinking about him. That song's kind of about him – that's how it feels to me anyway." - bit.ly

Indiana 3-piece Houndmouth, who you may recall from their albums Little Neon Limelight and From the Hills Below the City have just signed to Dualtone and in the wake of announcing new shows, have shared new music with us including this single called "Cool Jam." Look for them on a US tour through December in the South, East and Midwest.

In a press release, González says: I wrote “Head On” as a combat song or a list of instructions…a manual. I mean both “straight ahead” and head ON — as in switching on your mind." - bit.ly

Today’s my birthday, the last one starting with the numeral 4 (or as another more witty acquaintance once said, the 10th anniversary of my 39th birthday) and I’m going to spend as much of the next three hours as I can listening to your show because you and the music you play always bring joy into my days (like the Jeff Buckley/Elizabeth Fraser song—wow!)
I’ve got a song request, or rather a handful of songs to request thinking that one of them should fit into your show. Following a theme of one song that made an I know made an impact on my life from each decade I’ve been on this planet, here goes:
“Heart of Glass” by Blondie
“True Faith” by New Order
“Long Snake Moan” by PJ Harvey
“Apartment Story” by The National
“Sides” by Hotels
Any one of these (or other songs by those bands, to be honest) would put a smile on my face.
(I’m really digging this Tanya Donnelly set, by the way; I didn’t know we shared a birthday.)
Thanks for being on the air with us, for sharing with us the genuine you, and for playing some of the best damn music this world has been lucky to have. I definitely appreciate all you do to make my life a better one,
All the best to you and the KEXP crew,
Andy

My best friend- who happens to also be my husband- turns the BIG 50 today! I’m so very fortunate to have such a wonderfully funny and kind partner- and I feel this all the more after the past year and a half.
We’re both dedicated KEXP listeners and contributors (so thankful for the tunes you play for every mood while we navigate life).
Can you play Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You” for Aaron in Bozeman Montana?

John, this is Sandra in Atlanta. I literally just got the call that I am officially divorced from my mopey mooching manchild lush of a husband. Time to figure out how to prioritize myself, my voice, my opinions, my needs! Can you play "I will survive" for me? Or if you know something else fitting that's cool too!
Good morning! Would you consider playing Orville Peck's cover of Born This Way?
Cris on Queen Anne
Love it (when you play a song twice)! I was an overnight dj my freshman year in college and there were two occasions where songs came up in rotation that I just had to hear again and did not hesitate to replay. Anesthesia by Luna and There She Goes by the La's.

OH man,

How about some Terrance Trent D'Arby?
No one, absolutely no one can sit still when Wishing Well comes on. That's the kind of wake up call I need this morning!
