Earlier this year Thom Yorke created a version of Radiohead’s “Creep” for designer Jun Takahashi’s Tokyo Fashion Week showcase of “Creep Very,” his UNDERCOVER Fall/Winter 2021 Women’s collection.
This haunting reimagining of the 1993 hit is now being released as “Creep (Very 2021 RMX),” a standalone single available for streaming and digital download as of Tuesday July 13.
The digital single features bespoke artwork by Jun Takahashi.
Transatlanticism is the fourth studio album by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, released on October 7, 2003 by Barsuk Records. At this point in their career, the group had toured and recorded for nearly a half-decade. With tensions rising, the band decided to take time away from one another; notably, Ben Gibbard collaborated with electronic musician Dntel (Jimmy Tamborello), and released an album, Give Up, under the name the Postal Service. Death Cab regrouped in late 2002 to create Transatlanticism, which was recorded in a leisurely manner over five-day stretches until June 2003.
Say Anything director Cameron Crowe turns 64 today. Happy birthday and thank you for all the great musical moments in your movies!
Good morning John and Morning Show crew,
I heard you mention Cameron Crowe earlier and was wondering if you could play Chloe Dancer? Today would have been my 18th wedding anniversary, and that was one of Chris’ favorite songs.
Can’t wait to come out to Seattle again and visit LOM/KEXP studio once you can have visitors again. :)
-Kara in Boston
The band had begun writing this album prior to the release of their 15th studio album Living in Extraordinary Times (2018); due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, the members were stuck in different countries. Vocalist Tim Booth began working with producer Jacknife Lee at his studio in Topanga Canyon, California, where Booth acted as a liaison between the band and Lee. Described as a stadium rock album, its songs were influenced by the pandemic, the lockdowns, as well as the murder of George Floyd.
John asked you to check in, and our pal Sarah did just that: Good morning, long time listener. Long time checker-in. Hope today is an okayish Tuesday.
I'm off to set up for a middle school summer camp. The kids all want to wear masks (even vaccinated) to protect each other. The kids are alright.
Take care of your heart today and cheers.

The # 1 album in the US (and our hearts) on this day in 1985.
Hi John,
I am sitting here in Berlin / Germany in the office.
I am listening to KEXP nearly every day.
I can remember the Summer of 1985. I was sitting in front of my Taperecorder with a pack of 20 blank 90min. Tapes. I was recording the whole Live Aid show form a local radio station. This is also the only reason why I am still owning a Tapemachine :-)
One of my favorite songs from this day was Don't Change from INXS
Can you play this for me pls.
It makes working much easier.
Thanky very much
Cheers- Thorsten

This London-based electronic duo will be here in Seattle, playing The Moore Theatre on Friday, October 22nd!
Thanks for getting me through the morning!! Would you be able to play Handsome Man by the band Wednesday? They have a really great older Sunny Day Real Estate meets Pavement meets HUM vibe that would be great to hear on the airwaves.
Thanks for considering!

Debut album from this Seattle band Sunny Day Real Estate! They were (looks at notes cribbed from Wikipedia...sighs) one of the early emo bands in the Midwest Emo scene and helped establish the genre.

Of course, U2 was there, performing the now iconic "Sunday Bloody Sunday." The song has stood the test of time, Bono's mullet notwithstanding: wdhafm.com
