Morning John,
It’s been one year to the day since my mom died after decade long battle with cancer. In some ways, it feels like yesterday, and it others, it feels like a lifetime. I think a lot about my dad living along in the house he built with his one hands, thinking that he’d grow old with my mom there. Instead, he’s alone with my mom’s ghost. The chairlift is gone, but the bolt holes remain. The hospital bed is gone, but the old medical records are in the drawer. Her clothes are in the closet and her books are on the shelf. Could you play Your Ghost, by Kristin Hersh? Thanks, John. Lots of love.

Bachelor is a duo comprised of real-life buds Melina Duterte (Jay Som) and Ellen Kempner (Palehound).
An API artist, Duterte was born in Walnut Creek, California, United States, and grew up in the middle class suburb in the East Bay. She is the daughter of Filipino immigrants, and cites her parents' immigrant background and cultural customs as major influences. www.kexp.org
Harrison wrote "My Sweet Lord" in praise of the Hindu god Krishna, while intending the lyrics as a call to abandon religious sectarianism through his blending of the Hebrew word hallelujah with chants of "Hare Krishna" and Vedic prayer. The recording features producer Phil Spector's Wall of Sound treatment. Preston, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, and the group Badfinger are among the other musicians on the recording.
"Posing In Bondage" shows Japanese Breakfast taking a new approach to her sound, with lo-fi pop elements that create an unsettling sonic and visual combination for the new single.

It's a beautiful Monday morning here in Sacramento. It's one of those days where I wish I could just hang out in the sun and relax rather than staring at my computer screen all day while I work. I think something high-energy from LCD Soundsystem might help me get in flow. Maybe Movement?
Thanks and that's awesome to hear that Jimmy Fallon is a fan!

From this All Music review by Dean Carlson of Ministry's debut album: "Sounds less like the band chewing your pancreas and more like Human League's surly little brother. Great stuff, then, for those who allied themselves with Ally Sheedy's character in The Breakfast Club." Indeed.
Norway's Ora the Molecule (aka Nora Schjelderup) said this about the second single from their forthcoming debut album "Human Safari":
"It's about not being so scared of death. All evil comes from fear and all fear comes from being alone. The ultimate idea of loneliness is death. If you can eliminate that basic human fear, maybe you can afford to be good to other people around you." www.orathemolecule.com
Thanks so much to kexp for introducing me to great acts like mumu fresh.

'If We Don't Make It' is part of UNKLE's upcoming mixtape Rōnin I. James Lavelle says of the project, "Rōnin was an idea that started in lockdown back in June 2020 where Steven (Weston) and I started doing some remixes for a new set we thought we would be playing later in the year. As the lockdown continued and any hope of live shows disappeared, we decided to work on it as a mixtape where we could create an hours worth of new remixes and incorporate brand new tracks in the spirit of a new live show, but give it a proper release due to the circumstances." "In lesser hands, it might be confusing. When Robyn does it, it's human. Contrary emotions wrapped up in one package, happiness and sadness living together in a groove: Everything about this song is a juxtaposition. That's what makes it an anthem."
In this much-loved song, people find community in a song all about being solo.: n.pr

Phrenology is the fifth studio album by American hip hop band The Roots.
Phrenology (and its cover) directly refers to the 19th-century pseudoscience used to justify slavery, but also proposes a new Roots-specific meaning: “Ph” for Philly, “re” for re-entering the scene, and “nology” for knowledge. - bit.ly
