A cover of Radiohead's 1997’s OK Computer track recorded for the HBO series 'Westworld'.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recorded this version of David Bowie’s “Life on Mars?” for the HBO series 'Watchmen'. The instrumental appears in the seventh episode, “An Almost Religious Awe.” Reznor has referred to Bowie as a “mentor” and “fatherly figure” in a written memorial, has contributed to the singer’s 1997 single “I’m Afraid of Americans” and even appeared in the music video for the track.
Bowie came up with this after he was asked to put English lyrics to a French song called "Comme d'habitude." Paul Anka ultimately bought the rights to the original French song and rewrote it in English as "My Way," later made famous by Frank Sinatra. "Life On Mars?" uses practically the same chords as "My Way" and the "Hunky Dory" liner notes state that the song is "inspired by Frankie."

"Exit Music (For a Film)" was originally written for Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 Romeo + Juliet. It plays over the end credits, but didn’t make the official soundtrack.
According to Kim Deal, the main inspiration for the song was the film Crimes of the Heart, in which a white married woman falls in love with a black teenager. The song is credited to Mrs. John Murphy (Kim Deal's pseudonym at the time of Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa).

Earlier this year, Los Angeles-via-Baltimore artist serpentwithfeet announced his sophomore album, 'DEACON,' out March 26 via Secretly Canadian. In a press release, he explains that the new LP is "not only imagining but exploring a world wherein Black love is paramount."

“I just happen to like looking at people and wondering what’s up,” Adebimpe said of the clip’s inspiration. “We got some people together, some of whom we ran into on the street while we were shooting, and did that. In early 1993, Philadelphia director Jonathan Demme asked Springsteen to write a song for his film, adding "I want it to play in the malls." Springsteen replied, "Well, I’m interested, so I’d like to come up with a song for you. If you give me some time, I’ll see, but I can’t promise." Springsteen recalled adding, "I'm not very good at scores".

This wonderful song didn't start as a duet - Gabriel had to change the lyrics so they made sense for a man and woman to sing them. "The sensitive treatment Kate gave our give-and-take on that song was gratifying, because it's not just a song about a woman supporting a man in a demanding relationship," Gabriel said in 1986. "The chief thing dragging them down is unemployment, which is presently tearing the social fabric of Thatcher's England apart." He added: "Without a climate of self-esteem, it's impossible to function."
In February of 1978, Kate Bush released her debut studio album "The Kick Inside," which contained her UK number one hit, 'Wuthering Heights', (marking the first time a female singer-songwriter topped the charts with a self-penned song). Bush was just 19 years old and had written some of the songs when she was only 13.

Petty’s original plan was for ‘Wildflowers’ to be a 25-track double album, but Warner Bros. executive Lenny Waronker made it clear he thought that was far too long. Instead the record was cut back to 15 tracks, but just after Petty finished his 2017 Heartbreakers tour, he revealed to the Los Angeles Times that he was going to hit his archive, tidy up the final songs that didn’t make the cut and put out the version of ‘Wildflowers’ he always wanted to. Three years after his death, Petty’s vision finally came to fruition.

Real Life is the ninth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released in April 1991. This was the first Simple Minds album recorded without keyboardist and original bandmember Mick MacNeil, who left the band shortly after the previous tour completed in 1990.
