The song's lyrical concept is about being abandoned by previous generations who promised us so much. Frontman Yannis Philippakis explained: "Our ancestors built up, progressed and built civilizations and they built amazing cities. And now at the point of precipice where we're kind of in a perilous situation in many ways socially and environmentally, they're not around to help. And we're not adults. Sometimes I'm just like, where are all the adults?"

Thank you for that song this morning, John! Our first concert at the ShowBox after moving here in 1996 was The Dandy Warhols. It was a mind blowing experience - especially coming from middle America. No wonder we stayed in Seattle - and eventually became KEXP amplifiers. 😘 ---Jane --- "In my good, good morning... I'm up before what the sun can bring... Early morning, and Everyone like a shiny thing ...." Here are the lyrics: genius.com

"Strangers' is a new single from the forthcoming album, "Acts of Worship," from this Vancouver four-piece post-punk band. ACTORS frontman and producer Jason Corbett muses about the new release: “The new single reflects some of the weight and uncertainty we felt coming off the road to deal with everything that’s been going on. Making music as ACTORS has been cathartic for us. We hope that resonates.”: post-punk.com Here's the video for "Strangers.": www.youtube.com

Berlin duo Lea Porcelain's eagerly-awaited sophomore release, "Choirs to Heaven," comes out in May. They say of this song" “...the world has become something we don’t seem to understand anymore. Forced to be alone and to keep the distance from most of the people we know and long for. We are isolated on the inside and out, extended every week anew without an end in sight. “Ohio” is the story of two lovers who in a future scenario see the end coming and want to spend it together any way possible.": bit.ly

"Ongoing Dispute' is Danish band Yung's frst new album since 2015. The band says “Above Water,” is inspired by Yo La Tengo. Here’s their statement: "Lyrically, the song is an ode to individuals taking a stand against injustice and structures in society which oppose equality. These people often become the voice and the talisman of movements and generations, something that might come at a personal cost, but nonetheless something that makes way for dialog, discussions and hopefully positive change." yungband.bandcamp.com

In an interview, Cure vocalist and primary songwriter Robert Smith said: "I was thinking of Bourbon Street in New Orleans when I wrote it - I was getting ready to go there and I thought: what the f--k do I think I'm going to find? It's about the incredulity that I could still be fooled into looking for a perfect moment." --- Even though this was and still is a fan favorite, it was only released as a single in the United States.

More than fifty years after the release of Rodriguez's debut album Cold Fact, the retro-soul band the Black Pumas have released a cover of the album’s opening cut “Sugar Man.” Of the Rodriguez cover, Adrian Quesada says, “‘Sugar Man’ is one of those songs we’ve both been attracted to for years, from Rodriguez’s songwriting and performance to the production of Dennis Coffey, it’s inspired us in more ways than one and is one of those true timeless pieces of music. It was a total blast to dissect it and reinterpret in our voice.”

No cover here.... This was The Who's first single released after their very successful Rock Opera "Tommy." The song summed up Pete Townshend's dilemma at the time: how to handle the success that came from "Tommy" and stay true to the spiritual journey he had been following during the year he wrote and produced the album. --- Roger Daltrey was not a fan of the song. He admitted: "I was never ever fond of 'The Seeker.' To sing that song, to me, was like trying to push an elephant up the stairs. I found it cumbersome, the first song we'd ever done where I thought, 'Nah, this is pretentious.'"
