Good morning!
I was hoping you could play a request for an 8 year old named Alsea (al-c) Hazel Petersen in Portland Oregon. She’s been fed a steady diet of kexp from her dad, usually with a smile. I’ve sung a bedtime song to her for years and I was hoping you could play luckiest guy on the lower east side. I try to request it for her every year. She lives to hear it on the air, rather than from her dad’s scratchy old voice.
Many thanks to all of you. John, you have gotten me through some rough times. All best-

It’s minus a thousand here. And on days like this I imagine what it would be like to live in Australia where I would head out for a noon swim in the warm ocean. Instead of shoveling the walk in long underwear.
And in this dream Quivers would be playing some tunes on the patio. It’s a nice dream.
You’re not always on my mind

Happy birthday to Mike Patton, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Faith No More. Born in 1968, he is 53 today...or 212 years younger than Mozart. Coincidence?
Here's an English translation:
"He was the first punk ever to set foot on this earth
He was a genius from the day of his birth
He could play the piano like a ring and a bell
And everybody screamed: Come on, rock me Amadeus
With a bottle of wine in one hand and a woman in the other
His mind was on rock and roll and having fun
Because he lived so fast he had to die so young
But he made his mark in history
Still everybody says: Rock me Amadeus"

This was one of the songs in the '80s to make a point about the brinkmanship and paranoia/hysteria surrounding the issue of war. The song talks about Nena and the listener buying 99 red balloons in a shop and letting them go, for fun. These balloons show up on the radar as unidentified objects and both sides scramble planes and go to full alert to counteract a perceived nuclear attack, when in fact it is the most childlike of things, a bunch of balloons.
