From the Australian duo 2020 album We Will Always Love You, this track features Texas singer Leon Bridges, as well as a sample of Alan Parsons Project’s “Eye in the Sky” and is inspired — like the album itself — by the story of astronomer Carl Sagan and his wife Ann Druyan capturing their romance on tape and sending it into space as part of the Voyager’s Golden Record. That's love.
Curious to see what the KEXP vinyl looks like for this iconic record? There are stickers with handwritten notes all over the cover. Read what the DJs had to say about the album on Review Revue for 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars': kexp.org
Having a garbage heap of a day too- your set is exactly what I need. Can you please fit in some Frightened Rabbit (maybe The Loneliness and the Scream, or anything else you'd prefer) if you have time. Wearing my Life on Mars shirt and trying to snap out of this doom spiral.

Turner opens this track with these resounding lines: "We had a difficult winter, we had rough few months" and ends on this triumphant call: "I'm not gonna live the whole of my life indoors,
I'm gonna step out, and face the next storm".
You are not alone.

Mornin’ John-
I’ve been going through a period of struggle as of late, and this morning is proving especially difficult. Seeing the sunrise was uplifting, and to build on that, I would love to hear Catch the Sun by Doves. Absolutely love that track and it would be a nice boost.
Thanks-

TV Priest's frontman Charlie Drinkwater shares: "'This Island' is about incoherence and inarticulate responses, both personal and political, in a time and place you don’t fully understand anymore. It’s an unrequited love letter, and a howl of frustration; a mea culpa and a call to arms."

Ahh, 2019, when '5' would be the first time SAULT surprised us. They've since dropped two more excellent albums since this release. We still don't really know much about them.
Released on this day in 1982, Berlin shot the clips for "The Metro" and another song, "Sex," back to back over two days. Lead singer Terri Nunn was not happy about shooting the subway scene over and over. Exhausted, she got frustrated and started crying, which was the footage they used. Her anger and tears were exactly what the director was looking for: www.youtube.com
The Brooklyn band noted to Stereogum about this new single: "Deliver Me From Wondering Why” is a bit of an exploration, rooted in a desire for something repetitious and a bit spacey — something that would make you really want to zone out or go for a long drive on the highway."

This track from Beastie Boys third studio album Check Your Head contains an unlicensed sample of "Choir", a 1982 composition by jazz flautist James Newton. Newton sued inn 2000; the judge found that the sample, comprising six seconds and three notes, was too small to require a license.
"Can I Kick It?" samples Lou Reed's 1972 song "Walk on the Wild Side." With just two verses in the lyric, Q-Tip takes the first one and Phife Dawg the second. Only 19 when he recorded it, Phife (who died in 2016 at age 45: n.pr) said in later years that he had a hard time listening to his verse because he didn't like the way his voice sounded back then - he thought it was too high-pitched.
