Mark wrote in: "It is my daughter's one year birthday today and we have spent so much of this isolation dancing to "Someone Great." Is there any chance you could play that song for us? Her name is Edison." Happy birthday, Edison from The Morning Show!
"Today is my son's 10th birthday. I'm a teacher in the Bay Area of CA and I just found out that I had a covid exposure at work and now we all have to quarantine at home. Charlie now has to celebrate his birthday pandemic style. While I'm sure it will be memorable, it's not how we had planned on celebrating this 10th trip around the sun. Throughout the pandemic, we have listened to KEXP; the music and conversation have really lifted our spirits and made for some great kitchen disco moments. Would you make Charlie's day by playing "Under Pressure" for him? As Charlie said the other day, that song is what you get when you bring the greatest band ever together with the greatest musician ever. We love some Bowie and Queen in our house.
Thanks for all you do, John and KEXP. We know we are not alone. We keep calm and carry on and squeeze in some kitchen disco moments when we can. Many thanks" - Kelly

From Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood in a letter to fans around Christmas 2020: "Right now, I just feel this: I hope you are all safe and well and not too scared, or too bored. I also hope that somehow we can be part of making music for you soon, and that the pleasure of making music, and hearing music, whether in a gig, concert hall, church, or at home with friends — is not forgotten in this desolate year.”

Martin Phillips, the main singer and songwriter for New Zealand's The Chills says of this song "These are unprecedented times but, as usual, the young feel invulnerable and the elders are concerned. The old people (like me) want to feel more involved but they also know that their time of influence has largely passed. So we learn from the young and admire them as they make their own mistakes yet still, hopefully, shape extraordinary history we could not have imagined."

Foals request for Christian!
Speaking to NME in early 2020, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis said about being in lockdown: “One thing I’ve noticed is a pressure to be productive. The moment that it became evident that there was going to be a sustained lockdown, everybody I spoke to was like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be a great time to write some music eh?’ I was like, ‘I don’t tell you when to do your job!’ I’ve got nothing inside right now. There’s almost like this sportsman-like pressure to seize the day. For the first few weeks, I’ve been perfectly content just resting. As time goes on, I’m sure that’ll change and I’ll start writing some music.”

Out now, 'Powys 1999' is the second LP from Stats. Vocalist Ed Seed noted about recording it: "I knew we had to go back to Wales to make this album. I also knew I didn't want it to be sunny and meaninglessly pretty. It had to be October, when the weather's unpredictable. I wanted the band to be able to step outside and feel that."

"I didn't compose Chan Chan, I dreamt it. I dream of music. I sometimes wake up with a melody in my head, I hear the instruments, all very clear. I look over the balcony and I see nobody, but I hear it as if it was played on the street. I don't know what it can be. One day I woke up hearing those four sensitive notes, I gave them a lyric inspired by a children's tale from my childhood, Juanica y Chan Chan, and you see, now it's sung everywhere."
