Released on this day 18-years ago, said to be about a rough break up for the singer.
Hey John, maybe there's a reason Prudence doesn't want to come out, so get over it.
The Neverly Boys, (Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio's side project), were featured last weekend on KEXP's Sound And Vision. It's a worthy listen.

Single from the band's second album that Thom Yorke said they were pressured into including on the release, even though he personally hated the song. Thom was wrong.
"Leaving on a Jet Plane" is a song written by John Denver in 1966 and most famously recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary. The original title of the song was "Babe, I Hate to Go", as featured on his 1966 studio album John Denver Sings, but Denver's then producer convinced him to change the title. Peter, Paul and Mary recorded the song for their 1967 studio album, Album 1700, and it turned out to be Peter, Paul and Mary's biggest hit, becoming their only No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

Kathleen writes: 13 hour day yesterday in my elementary school library. Getting books to kids who ask. Bringing resources to kids In day care who can’t access...at age 5 and 6!
Teaching 4 classes. And then virtual back to school night - seeing the amazing families working so hard and me sobbing after because I MISS THOSE KIDS. I MISS THOSE FAMILIES.
Thanks to the families who are persevering, loving and kicking ass!
YOU ARE SEEN AND LOVED!
Happy 78th Gerry Marsden, who with Gerry And The Pacemakers had the 1963 UK No.1 single 'How Do You Do It' and the 1965 US No.6 single, 'Ferry Cross The Mersey' and of course the classic "You'll Never Walk Alone."
Thank you!
Sing-scream my lungs out while crying like a little girl is exactly what I was needing today!
Have a good one!

Remember this amazing scene from Almost Famous. www.youtube.com
I’ve got sooo much on my mind and it was made much worse by the windy wet weather overnight (and ok; the darkness makes everything seem even worse). This set is helping me. As light comes, tears flow., and these familiar comforting songs, I feel my nerves relaxing. Thank you!! Your ‘you are not alone’ message helps every day 💙

Barcelona post-punk band Mourn say "This song is about walking the streets and having to deal with looks, words and attitudes from different men. To enter a store and be treated differently than male clients, and the same at work. This song portrays these situations and the frustration that comes with them. ...In the end, it’s just a personal experience…lived by millions of people everyday."
Happy birthday to the AMAZING Carrie Akre!!!!

Directed by Rodney Passé, the video for "Thought Vs Everybody", dubbed “The Visual Reckoning,” is a powerful mix of civil rights archival footage, footage of today’s Black Lives Matter protests, and footage of Black Thought.: www.youtube.com
"... forgotten in the shadow of Kent State, police killed two black students at Jackson State in Mississippi. The incident spurred The Isley Brothers to record “Ohio/Machine Gun.” Fusing Neil Young with Jimi Hendrix, The Isleys re-framed the narrative of the song around rising racial tensions, bridging the cultural gap between the two songs as a deliberate statement: music was one of the few forces that could bridge the racial divide and bring people together - cultural connective tissue for a divided world." - jperiod.com
Would love to hear Protomartyr's Pontiac 87, Clash's Guns of brixton, Angelique Kidjo covering born under punches, Or you could just put on arrest the president and the whole new SAULT record. So basically everything you already play. Regardless you guys are so important! Music is saving my sanity right now. Anyway have a great day from so-called "anarchist" Brooklyn!

My family is scattered around the house. Doing zoom calls and online school, we keep wandering into each other taking hug breaks. Yes. It's a mad world. But it is beautiful. We are not alone. You are not alone thanks guys.

Hey John,
I'm one of these people prone to anxiety disorder. As you can imagine 2020 threw a wrench into my plans to have transcended all my mortal limitations. I felt that ominous sense that things are just not right, and no kidding, right? I tried to convince myself the current insanity from Covid to our political climate is not for me to obsess over as I have no control over it.
But the looming threat of a greater doom ahead of us keeps me up. I feel as though I failed not only to fix a world I have no control over, but I also feel like I failed myself by allowing the anxiety to return.
The one thing that keeps me hopeful that this, too shall pass, is that I am not alone in this anxiety. You and my fellow listeners remind me that as much as I feel alone, we are a family of millions going through it together. Every listener to you show shares something fundamental with me and each other: a depth of soul, a desire for a better world, and we anguish over the heartbreak around us, but we do it together.
If you would, please play "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, because it's uplifting and it is so true.
Sincerely,
Michael from Houston, TX
