"I write to express sincere gratitude for you just being there. So much is upended right now. So many scary things. When I was doing my dissertation on Low Power FM radio in the early 00’s people thought I was crazy. Rise of the internet and you’re studying a dying medium?? I argued then that radio was the most intimate medium- it’s our companion in the kitchen, in the car, at work; it’s the soundtrack to all our everyday life routines. It is integral. That you have committed to still being there with me in all my routines has provided a kind of existential stability to help navigate these rough and uncharted waters. From Wilco’s “Being There” could you please play “Misunderstood” for me? Thanks for being you." - Zach

"Good morning John, I am out here listening, staying connected to the music, and my community. Tempering the media and panic. You and the rest of the crew are definitely essential work for the community. Lately I feel like like I am running out of time to say things I need to say to people close to me because of the likelihood they or me won't make it thru this virus. So I will start with you radio friend, thank you for sticking with it thru the years, you helped me. There is a lot stacked in the words that helped me. Now for a request, it's a Tuesday song, Grandaddy, "O.K. With My Decay" off of the Sumday album. My best to all of the rest of the family." - Tommy, Charlie's papa

"Over the last year my wife has been back and forth from Chicago to care for her closest friend, her mom who as been battling stage four lung cancer. A few weeks ago she was put into at home hospice care where her condition has rapidly deteriorated. Music has been such a big part of our lives, in fact my wife and I sent each other CDs after we first met and she still lived in Chicago. One CD I sent her was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros which she and her mom fell in love with and played over and over late into the night as they partied out on the deck watching fireflies. Could you please play “Home” for her and my wife, the two most courageous, compassionate and badass women I know. Thank you so much." -Andy

"John - delighted you are keeping the music going. Thank you and everyone at KEXP for doing what you do. My go to song these days is Bombay Bicycle Club - Everything Else Has Gone Wrong. At least we have our KEXP community all around the world. Sending positive vibes to you, your family, and everyone at the station." - Mark

"I remember going to see Luna play, and I didn’t know the lyrics. I had no idea that the brilliant lyrics were “hidden thoughts poison life.” I thought the lyrics were “boys in black, boys in black.” Yeah. I know. Ridiculous. But not as ridiculous as me screaming at Luna “Play boys in black! Play boys in black!” Sigh. I didn’t figure out the real lyrics until years later. Thanks for being here. Crazy times." - Best, Heather

"I awoke this morning with the song “Sleeping In” by Postal Service playing in head, and was hit by the reality of this situation far too quickly. Another day of this warped reality as I gaze at today’s schedule wondering how I’m going to help the first patient of the day solve the issue of an earache over the phone." - Melissa, THANK YOU for the work you're doing as a Dr. over there in Tacoma. Good health and well-being from all of us here at KEXP <3

"Good morning from New York. I loved getting to sing along to "Caught a Lite Sneeze" while I work from home! Thanks so much for playing it. Had to check my time to make sure it wasn't the dance party song of the day, then realized... not everybody dances to Tori Amos as enthusiastically as I do." - Amy

"I’d like to request some Sylvan Esso this morning if it fits. "Rewind" popped into my head earlier and I realized I hadn’t heard them in a while. Also, I totally agree with that other listener that radio is vital. I already worked from home before this whole mess started, plus I live alone, so radio (and KEXP especially) keeps me company during the best of times. Now that it’s absolutely not the best of times, I’m really glad to have familiar voices and songs to keep me going. Be well!" -Tim

"I’m struggling a bit to pick the right song to request for Shelley. She’s sweet, thoughtful, over-flowing with talent and loves life. I fell in love with her while I was delivering your family’s newspaper and listening to Duran Duran, Icehouse (which she hates), INXS, Mike and the Mechanics, The Young Ones and the music of our youth, but always there was U2." - Happy birthday to Shelley from Eric (and all of us at The Morning Show) today!

“Let’s Dance” was our first dance at our wedding. We surprised everybody by taking ballroom dance lessons to prepare, and put together a little choreographed number that turned out pretty well. The dance was a cha-cha! Always love hearing the song because it makes me think of that day and all the fun we had practicing for it. Especially today, as I am away from home working on a ship in the middle of the Great Lakes for the next several weeks. I love streaming KEXP while I’m out here." -Zac
