For Jacob in Cincy. Bono woke up at his father-in-law's house with the idea of a conversation between Jesus and Judas already in his head. Coincidentally, the Irish poet Brendan Kennelly was also writing a book of poems about the betrayal of Jesus called Book of Judas. "It was an epic coincidence, because I was given the poems to review after the album was finished," Bono recalled in the book U2 by U2. "The whole Zoo TV tour that followed owes much to one of Brendan Kennelly's great lines: 'the best way to serve the age is to betray it.' That became our theme for the next couple of years, to do everything U2 weren't supposed to."

Hey, man. I got in my truck right as you started Sigur Ros (this often happens that a song begins right when the engine turns over) and I listened as the frost melted and dripped down the windshield, slowly. I'm amongst those still out and about (electrican) and just became very aware the motion through life and the city, which is always in danger of becoming automatic despite my efforts to prevent. Thank you!

This has been covered by numerous artists including Arcade Fire, Buffalo Tom, Grant-Lee Phillips, Buzzcocks, Built to Spill and many others and there's a good reason for that. It's a great song. #Science.

A request from singer Krissy VanderWoude: "Loving listening this morning. Music is such an essential lifeline for me always, but an extra special place to plug into now, where I can try to escape and dream of better days to come."

These are the kind of messages we are getting this morning: Melissa in Tacoma writes... I appreciate you all so much. I’m a family physician working in Oly trying to help all my patients get through this via phone and email as best I can, unless they have to come in. My nurse is hand delivering medications to our vulnerable patients in our parking lot...these are crazy, crazy times, however you are creating a soundtrack to my morning that makes this seem doable! Thanks again John and Owen

Charly Bliss' Eva Hendricks says "Making Young Enough was the most fulfilling creative experience I've had thus far. but we wrote too many songs and slowly whittled it down to the ones that told the most vivid and concise story. We're so excited to release the Supermoon EP, a small collection of songs that helped us get there. We recorded them at the same time as the rest of the record, before we knew which songs would make it on. I think they fill in the cracks and enhance the narrative of Young Enough and show you how we got where we were going. Enjoy!!"

John, Thank you for all you and KEXP are and are doing. As a resident of the market my home is 17 acres and is shaped by all the people that support my daily life. It is quite difficult to watch places close, people I care about get laid off, and see the stress of uncertentity overtake my home... my market and my people are my tugboat in life and I wise I could do more for them but they need to know we are all here and will be their tugboat for the ones still here and when others bopefully return. Can you play Tugboat ? Stay Amazing! -Matthew

Crazy times! My GF went on self-quarantine over 10 days ago, so I can't see her. My kids, home from college cancelled, are with my ex-wfie in NJ. The rest of my family is in Maryland. All I have is my kids dog, whom I just inherited 2 months ago, thank God. I am Judge in Pennsylvania and essential personnel although even we are limited. From what I have seen thus far, domestic violence violations are on an uptick. My advice, and song request, is to do your best and "Love the One You're With" Peace, Ed

KIDS DANCE PARTY! And it is no coincidence that both John (at KEXP) and Owen (working from home) are doing "the Molly Ringwald dance" from Breakfast Club while this plays. It's simply the right thing to do.

We just got this a few weeks ago from Neil Claxton, aka, Mint Royale, aka, the creator of "The Friday Song." He writes: ‘glitter’ is the first of a run of singles to be released this year showing a previously unheard side to mint royale. ... although if you’ve never heard of mint royale, that’s all a bit irrelevant. Glitter is terrible for the environment so let’s stop using it."

Michael Stipe explained in the October 1992 issue of Q magazine: "(It's) about a mother and child, especially the strong bond that exists between them. The voice is neither hers nor the child's, however. It's someone else commenting on the sense that the bond between a mother and child is the most powerful love of all."

Hey John, Thanks for a playlist full of PMA. It's just what we all need this morning. Can you please play Stay Positive by the Hold Steady? It's just a message I (we) need to keep pounding into my head as things get challenging. We're all in this together. Thanks --- Cam

“We have this incredible job, but it’s really transformed the way we live,” guitarist/vocalist Carlotta Cosials said in a press release, explaining the title of the new album. “We know we’re not going to stop, so we’ve decided to embrace it — to see this curse as something pretty.”

The one song I lean on in times of uncertainty and fear is Helio Sequence’s “Keep Your Eyes Ahead.” I am a high-risk person with health conditions hiding out in Walla Walla county right now, and I could sure use a ray of musical sunshine. Xoxoxo Amy D.
