The album was recorded between March and September 1981 following the departure of founding members Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, and saw the band shift direction from their prior avant-garde electronic style toward a more pop-friendly, commercial sound led by frontman Philip Oakey.

In addition to his solo work, White is also the leader of the avant-garde jazz big band Fight the Big Bull, for which he composes and arranges all music, and a former member of rock band The Great White Jenkins. He has collaborated with artists like Megafaun, Flo Morrissey, Justin Vernon, Sharon Van Etten, Steven Bernstein, Ken Vandermark, David Karsten Daniels, Foxygen and the Mountain Goats.
The single off the upcoming album was produced by Switch, Major Lazer founder and producer for M.I.A, Beyonce and Rihanna. It’s also the first release for Switch’s new label, Diary Records.
At the Grammy Awards of 1999, the song won two awards: Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
The newly released project of Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers, this dream trio will be touring through Seattle to the Moore on November 24th
