Canadian electronic artist TR/ST is turning his attention to the release of volume two, due out this November.
Says Yamada: “We have changed, the nature of our collaboration has changed, the world has changed, and we wanted the new music to reflect that.” Branching out from Occult Architecture Vol. 2, the album has a sonic physicality that is at once propulsive and undulating; it puts dance at the heart of an expansive nexus that connects the body to the stars. These are songs about embodied human experience — love, change, misunderstanding, internal struggle, joy, misery, alienation, discord, harmony, celebration — rendered as a kind of dance of the self, both in relation to other selves and to the eternal dance of the cosmos.

KOKOKO! represent the antithesis of tradition, and their debut album Fongola - which translates to “the key” - is a torrid, anarchic, youthful journey smashing a new path through modern life in Africa’s third most populous city.
Songwriter and poet David Berman has passed away at 52. Berman is perhaps most known for his work with the seminal group Silver Jews, a group he founded with Pavement’s Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich – though Berman would be the only consistent member throughout the band’s tenure. Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. "'The Hunger' is the result of a late-night discussion with a female friend about the difficulties of dating in the city. There's a line, 'why'd I wear these fucking shoes,' that's basically lifted right from that conversation. I think there's something heroic in the process of getting your hopes up time and again, even in the face of constant disappointment. The singer is Samia, who came into the studio and nailed it right away, with this mixture of I-don't-give-a-shit energy and vulnerability that's perfect for the song. In the verse, she describes an endless string of bad dates-even the melody is a relentless monotone that leaves her out of breath. But then when the chorus hits, there's a modulation in the harmony that reflects the mental gymnastics required to do it all over again. It's both a release and an attempt to psych herself up for another round. Trying to project confidence while dealing with disappointment and insecurity is an experience I think a lot of people can relate to."
Speaking of "Heartbeat" Boman noted: “I wrote this song on a summer’s day in Stockholm and then recorded the piano and vocals in my apartment in Malmö shortly thereafter. The rest has been recorded on different locations. For example Tom recorded the saxophones when he was on his own and then sent it to me. I remember exactly where I was and how moved I was, listening to it for the first time.This song is special to me, but I always want people to make their own interpretations of what songs are about, to let them be what they want them to be. That’s the magic.”
