One of my fav later releases of 2019! Drawing heavily on field recordings, HAAi mixes in the revving of her father’s Mustang engine alongside heavy basslines and crisp percussives, moving from the frantic rhythms of ‘6666’, to more experimental sounds in 10-minute closing track ‘Systems Up, Windows Down’.
Last month, Baker Boy linked up with New Zealand’s JessB for latest single ‘Meditjin’, “Music is the meditjin,” sings the Arnhem Land rapper in the song’s chorus, referring to the word for medicine in his native language Yolngu Matha.

“Lenox Hill,” taken from their forthcoming second EP Everything At Once, out on Jan. 24, 2020. Duthie says of their new single:
Lenox Hill is the hospital I was born in, with the track inspired by my early years as a kid living in New York City. It’s an honest and emotional coming-of-age tale. Life can take so many turns and you can forget where you came from and what makes you you. The important stuff like family can get set aside in the pursuit of whatever it is that drives you. Lenox Hill is about realising you’re lost and deciding to go back to your roots to find the way again.

Omni have returned with new single "Skeleton Key", the second to be shared from their forthcoming third album Networker.
"Skeleton Key" arrives after last month's album opener "Sincerely Yours".
Vocalist Philip Frobos says of the new single, "`when Frankie and I wrote "Skeleton Key" it felt like a turning point for our record, as though we had reached a new rock n roll echelon and Networker was truly underway. Lyrically this came together after hearing about some friends’ strange, surprising and sometimes hilarious online dating experiences."

Co-frontmen Dominic Berthiaume (vocals/bass) and Jonathan Robert (vocals/guitar/synths) have been playing music together since they were 14-years-old, and with the addition of Julian Perreault (guitar) and Julien Bakvis (drums), they made a vow to release a new album every two years. In order to keep to their self-imposed deadline, they had to hustle to complete the new LP. Six of the tracks were created in a single weekend. “Part of the beauty of the thing is that we didn’t have time to think about it,” says Berthiaume.
Remembering Anna Karina, iconic singer, novelist, and actress best known for her work in French New Wave films. She passed away on Dec. 14th. She was 79.
She came to Paris in 1958 at age 17 where she met Pierre Cardin and Coco Chanel, who convinced her to change her name to Anna Karina. As a rising fashion model, she was noticed in a commercial for Palmolive soap by Jean-Luc Godard then a film critic for the Cahiers du cinéma.
As a leading figure of the yé-yé movement, Hardy "found herself at the very forefront of the French music scene", and became "France's most exportable female singing star", recording in various languages, appearing in movies, touring throughout Europe, and gaining plaudits from musicians such as Bob Dylan, Miles Davis and Mick Jagger.
Rest is the fifth album by French musician and actor Charlotte Gainsbourg. It was primarily produced by French electronic musician SebastiAn, and released on 17 November 2017 by Because Music.

Eno has also said the album is about "paint[ing] a picture of the human trying to survive in an increasingly digital world;" themes that are explored in this song. "Strange Overtones" has been described as "a song about writing a song"—the subject of the song struggles to write innovative music, but is overheard by a neighbor using beats that are "twenty years old."
Since 1978, Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto, & Yukihiro Takahashi released 8 albums, countless solo works, and sampled across various genres. More here: bit.ly
“I sent her the parts, but what she sent back just felt like something totally new, and had the potential to be so much more than a remix,” Hopkins said in a statement. “She’d recorded these beautiful, uplifting vocal lines and had come up with joyous new riffs that recalled for me the best bits of the ’90s trance/euphoria that I had grown up loving. I got a beautiful sense of nostalgia and a true heart-lifting joy the first time I heard it, and it was so painless to take it from there to a finished piece—related and born out of ‘Luminous Beings’ but very much its own thing.”
