Daft Punk expressed that the song was the result of a desire to create dance music with live drummers. On “Rockstar”, Momma sing about the allure of the music industry.
“Etta and I wanted to write a song about making it big, and becoming rockstars. We didn’t want to take anything too seriously, lyrically or musically. We just wanted the song to sound big,” the band’s Allegra Weingarten said in a statement. “We thought it would be cool to have our own little rockumentary condensed in a 3-minute music video. It’s also kind of like a manifestation – I think we shamelessly want all of these things to happen in our careers.”

Luaka Bop tried with little success to track down William Onyeabor, whose “Better Change Your Mind” appeared on both their comp and the Nigeria 70 set. Little info could be found about the man, though the reports varied wildly: he studied cinematography in Russia, he self-financed his own movie, he was a titan of industry in his native Nigeria with a flour mill, he had business interests in Sweden. About the only thing for certain was that Onyeabor self-released eight albums from 1977-1985 at an annual report clip, before disavowing music for Christianity. Since then, Onyeabor’s music has been bootlegged while original copies can go for upwards of $500 online. pitchfork.com

Volcano Choir is an American indie rock band from Wisconsin, formed in 2005. It has released two albums, Unmap and Repave. The band began as a collaboration between Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and members of Collections of Colonies of Bees.
The music video for this song is a short film, directed by Emily Kai Bock and notably shot with a mix of 35mm and 65mm film, depicts a Latino family in Los Angeles, California, dreaming of their missing mother.
The video won the 2014 Prism Prize.
