RIP Keith Flint of The Prodigy, who we lost back in 2019. Weird facts about "Breathe": (1)The song features a drum break from the song "Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed" by Thin Lizzy. (2)The whiplashing sword sound effect is a sample of the song "Da Mystery of Chessboxin", by Wu-Tang Clan. (3)The freakish music video, which came complete with bugs, cockroaches and a crocodile, was directed by Walter Stern: www.youtube.com But wait, there's more: www.radiox.co.uk

Dilly Dally performed live in the KEXP studio in 2018 and chatted with Troy Nelson. They opened with "I Feel Free", followed it up with "Marijuana", "Sober Motel" and closing with "Heaven". The set list almost forms a sentence. Watch it all here: youtu.be -- “I Feel Free,” the band exemplified this revivement of the band in an almost literal sense. The clip, directed by frontwoman Katie Monks, sees Monks exhume her dead and buried bandmates and attempts to bring them back to life. “This song is me asking my bandmates to let go of what’s been weighing us down,” says Monks. “We’re not going to let the past hold us back from our dreams. Let’s do this thing.” "I Feel Free" was a KEXP Song of the Day in 2018. Subscribe and download for free here: kexp.org

When Columbian duo Simón Mejía and Liliana Saumet had nearly finished recording their latest LP, the group took part in an age-old ritual: a pagamento, or payment. It’s a ceremony “to pay back what you have taken from the Earth". Bomba Estéreo spent a night making offerings and sharing profound conversation with a mamo, a shaman of the Arhuaco people. Back with another new single, Mitski today announced her new album "Laurel Hell," which will be out February 4 via Dead Oceans. The latest song is titled "The Only Heartbreaker" and was co-written with Semisonic's Dan Wilson, who has a long history of working with musicians like Adele, Taylor Swift, and the Chicks (back when they were going by Dixie). --- Mitski said that the song depicts “the person always messing up in the relationship, the designated Bad Guy who gets the blame. It could simply be about that, but I also wanted to depict something sadder beneath the surface, that maybe the reason you’re always the one making mistakes is because you’re the only one trying.”

“Girlkind” is the latest release by Sinead O'Brien and reportedly lays groundwork for a forthcoming debut album. O’Brien shared a poem of sorts by way of describing the track: "I am out in the elements. At the mercy of others. Pulled in all directions. I wait endless. The phenomenon of the moving statues in Ireland during the 1980s becomes a motif. “When the virgin rocks the statues come to stop”. These verses are glimpses into experience. Girlkind and Humanhood Persevering eternity. Balancing, evaluating. Going back and forth. Keep forging a way through." - www.stereogum.com “Girlkind” is accompanied by a video directed by Saskia Dixie: www.youtube.com

He will open for Courtney Barnett at the Paramount Theater on Tuesday, December 14 -- [This cover] "is a great song and one of my favorites from Richard Swift, god rest him," says Bartees Strange. "I was really not sure how to approach the song because normally I don’t do direct covers, but I just love the arrangement and how the song was recorded so much that I just tried to do something that was true to the original but slightly different. I did some hard pan drums but still wanted it to feel very personal." -- Want to hear Richard Swift's original?: www.youtube.com

Barnett had this to say about the song in a press release: “I think my stance in the past was like, ‘There’s so many love songs and they don’t mean anything,’ but there’s something really special about zooming in on a moment and capturing it. ‘If I Don’t Hear From You Tonight’ comes from the state of where my head was at—trying to communicate honestly instead of keeping [my feelings] guarded.” Read more at Under the Radar: tinyurl.com Courtney Barnett will be Live in the KEXP Studio at noon on Tuesday, December 14th!
