If I Could Make It Go Quiet (stylized in all lowercase) is the debut studio album by Norwegian musician Girl in Red (Marie Ulven). It was released independently through AWAL and her own World in Red label on 30 April 2021, after being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was primarily produced by the musician herself alongside Matias Tellez, and features additional work from artists such as Finneas O'Connell.
Lyrically, the singer has described the record as an "emotional recap" of the year 2020 in which she explores her personal mental health experiences as well as "the different sides of love."
Of this collaboration, Van Etten said in a press release: “Even though we weren’t super close, I always felt supported by Angel and considered her a peer in this weird world of touring. We highway high-fived many times along the way…. I finally got the courage in June of 2020 to reach out to see if she would want to sing together. I got greedy and quickly sent her a track I had been working on.”

The music video for "I Miss You" was animated and directed by John Kricfalusi of Spümcø, best known for the Ren & Stimpy cartoons, which Björk admired. It was also directed by Erik Wiese and produced by Stephen Worth.
When Björk saw the storyboards, she said that Kricfalusi had "made [her] very cute," and was so pleased that she reportedly exclaimed, "It's like Christmas!" The video won a 1997 Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject. bit.ly

After catching the ear of many with her breezy, lo-fi sound, 박혜진 Park Hye Jin, has announced her debut album, Before I Die, which drops September 10th via Ninja Tune.
Gonzalez said she wrote “Before I Go” on the floor of her apartment right after being left by her husband. “I really did mean before I go… forever, that I would die,” she said in a statement. “It was this feeling that tumbled into the container of song. The harmony and the melody became the safety net for the emotions that might kill me.”

“The first verse of the song comes from daydreaming,” Park-Patterson noted. “I was out walking on a day that the rain that had been unrelenting until it briefly subsided and made it possible to get out and go for a wander. I was staring at a burn that was flowing much more forcefully than it usually would. The frantic and panicked movement of the water reminded me of a time that I was in the middle of a fox-hunting-sabotage.”
He added: “Standing in the middle of the road with my eyes and thoughts lost in the babble of the water, I couldn’t help but feel an affinity with the fox as I imagined the burn bursting its banks and the water gushing out and striking me up off of the ground. The feeling of fear and contentment about this situation were in equilibrium.”

“Dream Rats” features vocals from Alissa White-Gluz (vocalist of the Swedish death metal band Arch Enemy and sister to No Joy leader Jasamine White-Gluz.) Gluz said in a statement, “I’ve never collaborated musically with my sister before. When we were kids we would sing and play music together but as we’ve both become adults and touring musicians we’ve never had a chance to work together. This is the heaviest song on this record so it felt fitting to have her on there. There is something special about her being on this album, specifically because it’s an exploration of family and motherhood.” bit.ly
“It has been such an honor and delight to be involved in this whole project, from contributing a song to the soundtrack, to voicing Wonder Woman for the DC Comics Sonic Metalverse episodes. I really love the story and artwork of this Dark Nights: Death Metal series, and felt really drawn to Diana’s part in the story – her strength and perspective,” says Wolfe. “There’s this moment in the first comic book issue where she meets with Wally West and he’s so drained from his travels and all he’s had to do. I picked up on this intimate energy between them that felt almost romantic, but more just like two old friends who have an understanding between them – a moment of comfort and respite amongst all the fighting and chaos. I ended up writing this song about that encounter. Working with Tyler Bates on ‘Diana’ was a great experience. He’s obviously so killer at creating music that feels like the soundtrack to your own movie, so between him and my co-producer Ben Chisholm there was this elevated sonic landscape surrounding the song that just brought it to a different level.”

Originally from Sheet’ka (Sitka, Alaska), artist Nicholas Galanin brings the influence of his Tlingit and Unangax̂ heritage to his spacey dance pop. Under the name Ya Tseen (which simultaneously translates to “be alive” and references his Tlingit name Yeil Ya Tseen), he uses his music to advocate for "Indigenous sovereignty, racial, social, and environmental justice, for present, and future generations."

"Sleeping Ute" was recorded during the band's initial recording sessions for their fourth studio album in Marfa, Texas. Vocalist and guitarist Daniel Rossen stated, "["Sleeping Ute"] was actually the oldest track in terms of when the song was written, and it's one of the only songs on the record that I wrote alone before coming to the band with it."
Harding has described his genre as “slop ‘n’ soul,” mixing soul with gospel, psych rock, and blues.

"Move on Up" was a tribute of sorts to Mayfield's Chicago neighbors, The Staple Singers. "Curtis lived around the corner from us," Mavis Staples told Mojo magazine. "He was like my baby brother. He'd drop by and we'd eat together and he'd talk politics with Pops. One day he came to Pops and said 'I want to write songs like The Staple Singers do, and Pops said 'Curtis man, you're a writer, a poet! Write some of those songs!' The first one Curtis wrote was 'Move On Up' and he came round and played it to us and Pops said, 'That's my boy!'"

A month after the death of their mother, Molinaro wrote “I’m Not Better”, a song about the liminal space between the grieving period and a return to work and social life. “Everyone was so kind and told me to take my time coming back”, Molinaro recalls, “but it felt like there was a point where they were like ‘ok it’s been long enough.’ Grief doesn’t operate on a linear timeline. It feels more like waves, where 20 years down the road, you experience a wave that feels just as strong as the first one.” Thinking about the song now, Molinaro writes “I guess in many ways this song is about how incompatible the system and values of capitalism are with being a healthy human.”
Emerging R&B/electro-pop artist Cosha (formerly Bonzai) has shared the latest single to be taken from her much-anticipated debut album, 'Run The Track'.
Named after the area in Dublin, where Cosha — born Cassia O’Reilly — was raised, her first album Mt. Pleasant sees her create a space in which she can find freedom, comfort and be herself in the music.
