Keith Mitchell, longtime drummer for Mazzy Star and a member of Opal, Monitor and Green on Red, died Sunday. The band confirmed Mitchell's death, though a cause of death was not revealed. Mitchell provided drums on all four of Mazzy Star's albums: 1990's She Hangs Brightly, their breakout 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See (featuring the hit "Fade Into You"), 1996's Among My Swan and the band's 2013 reunion album Seasons of Your Day.

My Bloody Valentine took almost 2 years and spent over £250,000 to record this album. Following the record's release, My Bloody Valentine were removed from their record label, Creation Records, due to the difficulty and expense of working with band leader, Kevin Shields, a factor that was alleged to have contributed to the bankruptcy of the label. The album didn't have much commercial success when released, but has gone on to be known as one of the best albums released in the 1990s and a landmark shoegaze album.
