"Mazy Fly, the second full-length by the Bay Area artist SPELLLING, explores the tension between the thrill of exploring the unknown and the terror of imminent destruction. Chrystia Cabral spent the summer of 2018 in her Berkeley studio reflecting on the thresholds of human progress and longing for a new and better tomorrow. She was struck by the way the same technologies that have given humans the ability to achieve utopian dreams of discovery have also brought the world to the precipice of dystopic global devastation. Despite the darkness of this reality, Mazy Fly is defiantly optimistic. It is a celestial voyage into the unknown, piloted by Cabral."

After their first two albums The Stooges (1969) and Fun House (1970) were released to little commercial success, the Stooges were in disarray: the band had officially broken up, bassist Dave Alexander was fighting alcoholism, and singer Iggy Pop's heroin addiction was escalating prior to the intervention of David Bowie. Pop later recalled, "very few people recognized the quality of the Stooges' songwriting, it was really meticulous. And to his credit, the only person I'd ever known of in print to notice it, among my peers of professional musicians, was Bowie. He noticed it right off." Having signed on as a solo artist to Columbia Records, Pop relocated to London, where he was to write and record an album with James Williamson, who served as the Stooges' second guitarist from late 1970 until the band's initial dissolution in July 1971. When they failed to find a suitable English rhythm section, Pop suggested that former Stooges Ron Asheton and Scott Asheton fly over and participate in the recording sessions, leading to the band's reformation under the new name of "Iggy and the Stooges". Although he was the band's founding guitarist, the elder Asheton reluctantly agreed to switch to electric bass.
"Imagine an album made by a truly loving cult with a sweetly groovy leader, created back in the day of golden LPs you could play forever (despite having to flip over every twenty minutes). There’s mystery, killer hooks, an alien allure to the fuzzy, good-time danceable vibes, and a lot of fun insights and midnight confessions found in the layers of lyrics beneath the astral energy of each song. This is Zzyzx, the latest full-length from Seattle’s cabal of inspired music-nauts, delivering another platter of liberation to the rock-hungry droves of timeless rock lovers"

My #1 album of 2019!!!
Jonathan’s runaway hit ‘You’re So Cool,’ featuring his mysterious masked band, was voted best music video of 2017 by Time Out New York. A plucked cello, minimal bassline and drum pattern ground Jonathan’s trademark ‘bendy strings’ which make a number of appearances across the album. This song is offered as encouragement for those artistic types who feel disillusioned due to not achieving as much as they had hoped when they were younger and more idealistic.

"Fu-Gee-La" is a song by the Fugees. It was released on December 13, 1995, as the lead single from their second album, The Score. The song, which was produced by Salaam Remi, contains a sample of "If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right" by Ramsey Lewis, and its chorus is based on "Ooo La La La" by Teena Marie. Immediately following this is an interpolation of "Shakiyla (JRH)" by Poor Righteous Teachers. Several remixes of the song, including the "Refugee Camp Remix" and the "Sly & Robbie Remix", which features a young Akon, also appear on The Score. It is the highest-selling single from the Fugees, and has been certified gold by the RIAA.
The song's lyrics talk about the group's affection for their homeplace, New York City. It also alludes to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The song samples "Sonic Reducer" by The Dead Boys, and also features a brief sample of "New York's My Home" by Robert Goulet.

"One Big Holiday" is a song by American rock band My Morning Jacket and is featured on their 2003 album It Still Moves. It is also featured on the band's 2006 live concert CD and DVD Okonokos. It is perhaps their most well-known song, behind "I'm Amazed".
Despite a lack of radio airplay the track has achieved some notoriety, which could be the result of several live performances, most notably on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as well as several performances at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. Its signature guitar riff and the lyrics, telling the story of the band being "discovered", continue to make it a fan favorite and staple of live performances.
"High quality, timeless pop songs weren’t always created in offices by handfuls of writers and marketing teams and then farmed out to the highest bidding singers. Once upon a time they were written and recorded by artists – George Michael, Prince or Kate Bush for example – who wanted to use the universal, happy medium of pop music to put across joyous, accessible messages of love, friendship and life to the world."

"“We started playing ‘No Fun’ after BBC6 Radio asked us to record an Iggy song for his 70th birthday. We added it to our set to work it out for the session and kept playing it every night because everyone loves that song. We worked up a version of ‘Jukebox Babe’ because our sound engineer Larry got it stuck in his head and was singing it all the time. We figured, we may as well play it if we’re going to hear it all the time. "
