Hey Troy,
I first discovered The Decemberists on KEXP and they changed my life! Colin Meloy is a brilliant writer of love, sorrow, joy and pain. Everything I feel as a human and more and this is also why I LOVE KEXP.
Thank you for being you.
-Henry
Today we are celebrating our Amplifiers (monthly donors) who power KEXP all year long by playing all Amplifier requests all day! Go to KEXP.org/donate to become an Amplifier!
For Monte in Seattle, KEXP Amplifier
Hey Troy,
Been an Amplifier at the $20 level for almost a year. I was wondering if you could play this song from Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock's side project. I would really appreciate it. Thank you for all you and KEXP do.
-Jason in Cleveland
Could you play the song Alameda from Elliott Smith? - Clayton (Amplifier in PDX)
Amplifier Request! Heatmiser, fronted by Elliot Smith, released their third and final album, Mic City Sons, in 1996.
I became an Amplifier last year after years of being an annual donor. I love the diverse and eclectic music mix KEXP provides, it’s especially welcome in the radio wasteland that is my hometown. I would love to hear “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” by Gill Scott Herron. - Craig in Florida
Thank you to our Amplifiers for supporting KEXP and for sending in all these great requests for Amplifier Love Day!
The Amplifier request is off the debut album from Canadian producer Kaytranada, the winner of the 2016 Polaris Prize.
I love all the messages of how KEXP has supported people through tough times. One of the best ways you do it is by making a laugh. I don’t know how many times I’ve been listening to the Midday show and Business Time comes on - I never seem to remember it’s Wednesday and I laugh! Sometimes it’s more subtle like to time someone dropped Neil Diamond Sweet Caroline into a set apropos of nothing. It's all great
But the KEXP classic, which I’ve heard nowhere else, is always William Shatner’s cover of Common People. - Ron in Palo Alto
Hey Troy! This year is my 10 years of amplifying KEXP, and I have a drawer full of shirts to prove it :) my request is Everything is Embarrassing by Sky Ferreira - Eric in Tacoma
Please play…“Hail Hail Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Shovels and Rope. Many thanks!!
-Tracy, KEXP Amplifier
This Amplifier request was first released on Talking Head's 1985 album, Little Creatures.
Another great Amplifier request, this one for Austin-based duo, Ghostland Observatory.
"Loving this set! Anyway you could squeeze in some ghostland observatory?! I was introduced to them via kexp years ago before I was an amplifier (pretty sure you didn't have that option then anyway). But I was still an anual donor and even had the great experience of volunteering for a drive back in the old station (was it on Drexler?). I've since moved away from Seattle left in 2006 - but I've always held kexp and Seattle in my heart and promote the station and your mission. Pre - app/ when I was missing Seattle and/kexp. I would play recorded tapes I made from various Dj's (mostly Riz - and Vandy) Now kexp is my everyday soundtrack and I always feel better and more grounded after listening to even just a few songs. So thank you and all the Dj's, the staff behind the scenes and my fellow amplifiers! Kexp rocks!" - KEXP Amplifier
Hey Troy,
I’m Zach, coming to you alllll the way from the couches in the gathering space. I got here early excited to hear Deep Sea Diver so would love to hear my favorite song by them - Creatures of Comfort.
All the best,
- Zach
Hello, I would like to request the song "An Ocean Between the Waves" by The War on Drugs. I am a fairly recent amplifier but giving a little bit each month has felt good. One of the things I love that KEXP does is your amazing live in studio performances. They somehow sound even better than the album versions. So keep doing awesome stuff, KEXP! Best, Rowan, KEXP Amplifier
Going out to KEXP Amplifier- Greg in San Francisco!
Requested by Amplifier, Tristan.
Been amplifying KEXP for several years now. How about some Parliament to cruise and groove through the rest of this work day...Dr Funkenstein? - Evan in PDX
Hello DJs Troy and Sharlese!
I’d love to hear Bicep by TR/ST, a song I first heard on a KEXP Runcast, and would be a nice homage to DJ Sharlese’s amazing show, Mechanical Breakdown, which we listen to every week in the archive. Many thanks to you and all the other DJs who have introduced us to great music, and given us the best radio events ever, like Six Degrees, International Clash Day, 50 Years of Hip-Hop, and more!

Hello! I have been an amplifier since moving to Seattle over 8 years ago. I worked in an office that played the station out loud all day and I recall hearing Jamie XX's new album at the time a lot. It's why I'll always associate the song Gosh with my first summer in Seattle, my love of KEXP, and the idea that exciting futures lay ahead (which they did and still do). I was in the KEXP studio yesterday for the live session of Telehealth, who are dear friends of mine. Surprisingly, it was my first ever live in studio session, but I couldn't have asked for a better first time. The fact that I got to watch my friends perform live on the radio and be broadcasted all over the world is why I support KEXP and all that you do. So with all that I guess I have a song request! Gosh by Jamie XX or Context Hindsight by Telehealth, whichever fits your mood. Thank you for everything that you do and for supporting awesome artists!
-Michelle, KEXP Amplifier
This Telehealth track is also going out to Michelle, long-time KEXP Amplifier!
Happy Birthday to KEXP Amplifier José in Ballard!
Hi, My name is Brigid and I've been an amplifier since 2016 I believe. My husband Hans was an amplifier when we met and brought me to one of the free gold club shows at the time. I think it was Shovels and Rope at the triple door. I power KEXP because of my love for different genres of music and live radio. I used to DJ at a college free form radio station in Chicago (WZRD) and loved the community I found there. I enjoy the KEXP community and all of the fiends I've met through it. If you could play Age of Consent, by New Order, that's one of me and my husband's favorites to dance to. Thank you
Hi All! Hans here, amplifier from Felton, CA listening with my son Quinn today. If you can get Devo's "Turn Around" on it would be great or "Gut Feeling" - and if not, we are loving the show regardless :)
Hi Troy and KEXP team. I am a realtor in Marin County, CA. I held open one of my listings this past weekend. At the open house I met a couple from Seattle and asked if they listened to KEXP. I got big smiles and affirmative answers. We talked about your live performances. They mentioned Khruangbin and I mentioned Thievery Corporation. What a great way to connect with people. We are not alone! My request is something from Thievery Corporation. I'm curious what you pick!!! - Tom, KEXP Amplifier
I've been an amplifier for a few years. 5? Despite the fact that I'm raising 2 kids on a single income on a grocery store wage. YOUR music matters & community matters. You make a difference every day. Thank you! - Amanda in Beacon Hill
For Derek in Lake Forest Park, KEXP Amplifier for 20 years!
I have been an amplifier since 2021 and I love the diversity of your music, events and DJs. I share this love with my love- my wife Casey. Please dedicate Tina Turner's version of Rev. Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" to my lovely partner in crime & life. It's our wedding song! I hope we stay with KEXP forever.
Amplifier Love from Michael in PA
Hi again troy! Stella cat and I are much cooler in pdx today. I am more likely to be dancing in my living room. Stella not so much. If you have time to honor this amplifier’s request, I would love to hear Dancing on My Own from Robyn! - Julia in Portland
Hi Troy and Sharlese! Mike in Chicago here. Long-time listener, Amplifier and fan. In honor of OG Thursday could you play Doomsday from the sadly departed MF DOOM? Thanks for considering and thanks for all you do to fill our days and nights with music.
It's Amplifiers Love Day 2023!
"While I've listened off and on for years, I became an amplifier after KEXP became the soundtrack to a very difficult 2020. In April 2020 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was about a month after lockdown started. I felt very isolated both literally and figuratively.
"I received all of my care at Swedish, about an hour from home. Luckily my husband is a teacher and he was able to go with me to all of my appointments while working remotely. I went through 20 weeks of chemotherapy as well as countless other appointments. During the drives to Seattle, we always listened to KEXP. There were many times we were lost in thought and what-ifs and KEXP filled the void of our silences. We were turned on to a lot of new (to us) music like Tame Impala and Avalanches which were in frequent rotation.
"I am healthy now, a little over 3 years from my diagnosis and I still listen to KEXP most days as I work from home. Thank you for reminding me (and everyone else) that I am not alone."
Thank you Lisa in Auburn!
