Hi Troy, Owen, and beautiful morning show people! An estimated 333,786 babies were born on May 31, 1973, but that math doesn’t pencil out, as my lovely wife, Sherrill, was born on that day and is one in a million. She turns 50 today. FIFTY! She is the epitome of kindness and all that is good in the world. Could you please play Jessie Ware’s ‘Spotlight’ in her honor this morning? From her husband Sune and daughter Astrid

"I Feel Love" is an electronic music landmark, with a track built entirely on a Moog synthesizer. The song was inspired by the jazzy little tune performed by four fish-headed aliens in the Star Wars Cantina scene. When Giorgio Moroder saw the movie, he was taken by how un-futuristic the Cantina band sounded. That served as the initial spark for "I Feel Love." He said: "I didn't think it sounded like the music of the future - it looked like it, but didn't sound like it. So I thought the only way to do it is to do it with computers - only computers." - www.songfacts.com

Much of this track, including the guitar and keyboard, is built from samples of "Release The Beast," a 1980 song by a Philadelphia funk band called Breakwater. Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk told Q magazine (December 2007), the song is "a tribute to the power of heavy rock chords. In a way I think we were exploring if you can take the essence of rock - that power - and mix it with dance. But to take a riff and loop it is to explore the core of rock." - www.songfacts.com daftpunk.com

By request!!! --- M/A/R/R/S was a one-off collaboration between members of A.R. Kane (Alex and Rudi Kane) and Colourbox (Martin and Steve Young), both veteran 4AD artists. They took their name from the four collaborator's initials plus that of label boss Ivo Watts-Russell, who suggested they get together. Those four are the credited songwriters on the track.
