You walk around in your hometown and run into people you used to know who have in their minds who they think you are. I go home and I’m in the bedroom where I grew up, with all these memories around me, but I’m an adult now. I’ve come very far, but sometimes you get back in that spot and feel like a kid all over again...."

Mariam and band co-founder Erich Huffaker first met in 2006 at a wedding where Mariam was performing. Erich was in Mali for an internship and Mariam was doing odd jobs like cloth dying and doing henna while also making music and performing at weddings and other gatherings as a sort of vibe setter. Rachel Nagy of The Detroit Cobras passed in early January at 48 years old.
Rachel Nagy was best known for her work as the lead singer of the Michigan garage rock band the Detroit Cobras. The band was hailed as “Detroit’s most famous cover band”.
The Detroit Cobras were founded in 1994 by Nagy and guitarist Mary Ramirez. They released their debut album, Mink, Rat or Rabbit, in 1998 with guitarist and Detroit photographer Steve Shaw (The Fondas), bassist Jeff Meier (Rocket 455, Nathaniel Mayer), and drummer Damian Lang (Two Star Tabernacle).

Celebrating 1987! Originally released as a B-side to Salt-N-Pepa's single "Tramp," “Push It” was their first hit song and one of their most famous. Although often mistaken as a song about sex, the group insists “Push It” is about dancing.

When “Push It” was certified Gold, then Platinum by the RIAA, it made Salt-N-Pepa the first female rap group to do both. The track was also nominated for the Grammys first-ever Best Rap Performance award in 1989, losing to DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand”.
This was the first major hit song to feature scratching -- in this case, with Grand Mixer D.ST and friends from Infinity Rappers, using Fab Five Freddy's "Change the Beat" among others. They also included samples from Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force,

The duo started writing the new LP back in March 2021 and recorded it in secret, both at home and in a small studio outside Bath, England, with engineer Bruno Ellingham. “We were aware of the pressures of such a long-awaited comeback, so we tried to begin instead in a spirit of open-minded playfulness, uncertain of the direction, receptive to invention,” Thorn said in a statement.
