They're sampling Barbara Mason's 1965 hit, "Yes, I'm Ready," here.
"Fall In Love" wasn't supposed to be a Phantogram single, but a track laid down for an epic rapper to rhyme over, according to Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter. "It's actually an old idea, an old beat that Josh made five years ago," Sarah says of the song. "When we were waiting to release Eyelid Movies, we had a space of time to work on music, and Josh made the beat. It was intended to just be for an instrumental or for an MC to rap over, but that never ended up happening. I always remembered how much I loved it, so I grabbed it from him. I had a bass synth in mind for it, and it kind of just evolved from there."

"Arriving closely on the heels of their 2020 EP 'Toner,' the band’s stunning debut album sees them further consolidating the beating pulse of electronic music with the raw energy of a life-affirming gig and reveals more about the trio than they’ve ever previously shared. The eleven blistering tracks from the group, Ella Harris and Josh Baxter (who share lead vocals as well as handling synths, guitars and production) alongside drummer and percussionist Louis Satchell, are made from a formula of acid, disco, blistering synths, the release of the dancefloor and cathartic sprechgesang post-punk." pvaareok.bandcamp.com
"Enjoy the Silence" is the sixth track on Depeche Mode's seventh studio album, Violator. Recorded in 1989, it was released as the second single on February 5, 1990. Here. it's getting the remix treatment.

Off of Wild Pink's new album ' ILYSM' - Which stands for I Love Your So Much. The LP was co-produced by frontman John Ross with Justin Pizzoferrato and the Antlers’ Peter Silberman.
As Ross was beginning to write ILYSM, he was diagnosed with cancer. “Even though I’d already started working on the record, everything took on new meaning after my diagnosis,” the singer and guitarist, who is now recovering, said in a statement. “I started writing songs that tried to make sense of the whole experience, including the love and support I felt from the people in my life—particularly my wife, which is where the title came from.”

"While [Greta] Kline’s musical taste at the time [of Inner World Peace's creation] was leaning toward aughts indie rock she’d loved as a teenager, keyboardist Lauren Martin and drummer Luke Pyenson cite 'droning, meditation, repetition, clarity and intentionality,' as well as '‘70s folk and pop' as a reference for how they approached their parts. Bassist/guitarist Alex Bailey says that at the time he referred to it as their 'ambient' or 'psych' album. Somewhere between those textural elements and Kline’s penchant for concise pop, Inner World Peace finds its balance." ingridsuperstar.bandcamp.com

This is what happens when some of jazz, soul, and hip-hop's greatest producers and artists team up on a single project. Supergroup Dinner Party (Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and 9th Wonder) released one of the best albums in 2020.
"A lot of musicians have so many f-ing rules in their heads that they limit themselves," Terrace Martin says, halfway through an interview that’s picking up pace as he talks about the intersection of jazz and hip-hop. "They know so f-ing much, they don't know anything."

The follow-up to Drunk Tank Pink, which arrived in early 2021, has been billed as the "Lamborghini of shame records." Produced by the esteemed Flood, it sees them look more outwards than ever before, trying to capture the world around them.
Frontman Charlie Steen says, "I don’t think you can be in your own head forever. It’s weird, isn’t it? Popular music is always about love, heartbreak, or yourself. There isn’t much about your mates."
The songs started to take shape in the run up to a few intimate shows which took place last year and saw them play two sets of entirely new material. Recorded while on tour in Europe, the record is brimming with the urgency, vitality and potent live energy that first launched them into everyone’s consciousness. bit.ly

The new album from this Austin band will come out on September 9th. “The Velvet Underground song ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’ – that’s what every Black Angels album has been about,” says vocalist/bassist Alex Maas. “You can’t work out your struggles unless you bring them to the forefront and think about them. If we can all think about them, maybe we can help save ourselves.”"

She told NME the song was dedicated Eliana, her friend and the bass-player in her band. “She’s my go to person every time I have any troubles in my life and, you know, I’m the same with her. And I guess at times, it feels like we wish we could date, because if something ever goes wrong or we need anything we go straight to talk to each other. When you have a best friend like that, it’s like – we would be perfect for each other!”

This song takes its title from Tom Verlaine, iconic guitarist behind the legendary New York art punk group Television. "Around then, rock kept getting more and more complicated. In time, you begin to understand that the primal impulses that makes rock rock can’t be too ladled in shit, because it collapses under its own weight. But you’d hear something in the right place in the right circumstances and you felt, 'Yes, this is what I need!' For me, that’s what happened with Marquee Moon. It had attitude and humor and what a Midwestern kid would perceive as this smart, New York-artist attitude. I worshipped it." bit.ly

They're back! "Waile" is the Zamrock legends' first new song since 1984, and it’s their first recording with original singer Emmanuel “Jagari” Chanda since 1977.
__
Jagari told Rolling Stone: "Let me confess that at my age, I would be more at ease creating and performing music than doing anything else, because the music touches my soul. It’s different from working anywhere else. Music is like wine — the older you are, the better you become. There’s hope that the small mistakes we were making while we were young, we can perfect. And even though there’s no real perfection, you can bring international acceptance, because I believe there is no bad music. There’s no good music. The standard is the quality of the music that you put out there, how creatively you put it out there and how unique your music is. The world is there, waiting to listen, as long as you can be yourself, be creative and be unique. That’s my hope — that I can leave that banner somewhere out there." bit.ly
