Song title for this one off the French band's sixth album was inspired by a real life Claudia Lewis who had written a few poems about space that Anthony Gonzalez stumbled across one day.
“It is about the conflicted feelings of a relationship that has begun to unravel,” noted Dan Whitford about this song. “Where sometimes against all logic, you discover that affections run deep just as a break-up becomes inevitable."

In an 2017 interview with Q Magazine, Ben Goldwasser stated about this song: "Initially, [Andrew] VanWyngarden had its chorus as “me and my girl”. “Then I was like, ‘That’s so boring and cheesy, let’s make it ‘me and Michael’,’ which developed into this ambiguous story, and we really liked that – writing a catchy song that gets you pumped-up, but you have no idea what the message is.”
Found on the debut album from Kelela, which she worked on for four years before its release in 2017. She told Pitchfork about this track, "I just want to live in a world where I can tell a guy, ‘This is the deal: I really want this. I really want you. But it’s also not that deep."

"Every Vampire Weekend album, going back to the start, starts with something uncool. That's where the action's at, in my opinion. It's not like preppiness was cool. Even the attraction to boat shoes and Oxford commas was not particularly cool."

Anderson . Paak's mom in a text message to him: "Love “Bubblin” Brandon. Tell me if I’m close. The song’s subliminal message is about the love of money and how it makes people act to get it and how it changes people. The ATM represents the abundance of it and also the insatiable desire of it and the inevitable detriment of it. How did I do?"
