Ambrose Kenny-Smith:
When GUM (Jay Watson from Tame Impala and Pond) hit me up to sing on a few tracks of his I was super excited! These songs are way funkier than anything I’ve ever worked on before. After he sent me ‘Magic Mountain’ by Eric Burdon and War as a reference for the vocals he was wanting from me I was instantly 110% in.
You [Watson] sent me the track for ‘Minor Setback’ right before my friend passed away. That afternoon I had a bunch of stuff on in Melbourne and I couldn’t make it to the funeral down the coast. So I streamed the funeral and then I wrote the lyrics to the song and it’s somewhat connected to that relationship in a way. Like not letting things bring you down and to just keep on truckin’, I guess. I love it when you get a burst of inspiration and can smash something out really quickly.

LCD Soundsystem are back with their first song in two years! “X-Ray Eyes.”
In August 2022, singer and frontwoman Shannon Shaw’s world was turned inside out: with mere weeks to go until their wedding, the singer’s fiancé, Joe Haener, died in a horrific car accident. It was a devastating loss that hit Shannon & The Clams — who were all incredibly close with Haener — with cataclysmic force.
KEXP's Emily Fox talked with Shannon for the podcast A Deeper Listen. Check out the episode here: www.kexp.org
"By 2001, [the group's previous band] Corky had gone by the wayside and the brotherly bunch had regrouped as Delays. Sun-soaked, '60s-tailored rock melodies developed over a few years' time, as did a fondness for Cocteau Twins-influenced keyboards and loops." Read more about Delays here: tinyurl.com

This track was inspired by a Peter Tork vocal in The Monkees' song "Zilch", which began by repeating the name "Mr. Bob Dobalina". "I just kind of conceptualized who Mr. Dobalina would be," Del said, "which is basically somebody who thinks he know what hip, he think he cool, but he's really right off. Like he ain't right on — he right off."

The piano on this track was sampled by Celeste for "Stop This Flame."

On this track, Stevie played Hohner clavinet, drums, and Moog bass. Two of his band members also contributed: Steve Madaio played trumpet and Trevor Lawrence played tenor saxophone.

That's the Hohner Clavinet that is playing the riff at the core of this song. A Clavinet looks like an electric keyboard, but it is an electro-mechanical string instrument originally developed for the performance of classical harpsichord and clavichord music. : www.clavinet.com
